From the moment my son took the trial class, it just felt right. We love the flexible schedule for kids class (M-F, come any day) that really works well for us. They recommended at least 2 classes a week which is very easy. All the coaches are encouraging, kind, friendly and they also reinforce discipline, respect and resilience. My son loves all the coaches and though some evenings are rough for him because it’s at end of the day and he’s tired but I can see the changes in his level of confidence & resilience. I like that Jiu Jitsu teaches body movement, self control, close-range defense and pinning opponents down instead of striking. If your kid loves martial arts and enjoys activities after school, this may be the right class. Everyone here is friendly and helpful including other parents. It’s a great community here and the owner, coach Nelson is always around to listen or answer any questions.
After training for 5 months, Inverted Gear has become my daughter's home away from home and a supportive extended family. Hillary and Nelson, owners and instructors, have helped guide us through the last months, answering questions and guiding us through the jiu jitsu world. The unlimited membership options has allowed our family the space to tailor our daughters training schedule to her goals. The curriculum builds through the weekly classes allowing for our daughter to practice the skill set through the week. A great bonus is the comradery amongst the women. They all work to be the best they can be, but it goes so far beyond that, encouraging each other to best they can be. The women that my daughter works with don't see her age (she's the youngest), but rather her potential. The biggest thing that stands out is that every person who walks in to class is there to learn, to push themselves, to be their best self, to help those who are

Headed by Nelson and Hillary, Inverted gear is the home of the Inverted Gear apparel company and what I like to call the panda nation lol. Good jiu jitsu, great instruction, and vibes you can't find anywhere else. Nelson and Hillary are adamant competitors and they do a great job of bringing in some of the best and world class talent right to Allentown. Outside of competition, Inverted Gear Academy really is a family friendly environment, with the kids well represented as well as a hub of female Jiu Jitsu for the entire state of PA. You can't go wrong at Inverted Gear Academy and a quick personally story I was able to meet a family member through training there so it will always hold a special place in my heart. A perfect place for all to train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at. Classes 6 days a week and a 2 hour open mat on Sundays. Tired of your kid playing fortnite after doing his homework after school? There's kid classes! There's also a women's only class on Saturday mornings! Great instructors great peers to be around. Higher belts adopt you and you learn something new from their experiences as well as the phenomenal classes given. Nelson and Hilary are experts of this sport. Alex is also a great instructor as well! They know anything and everything about. I've been coming since November and have seen a large amount of improvement in confidence athleticism and endurance. I've been going to Inverted Gear since September of 2022 and I absolutely love it! I am in the kids class that they offer and I get so excited because my dad takes me there 3 days a week. The instructors are very nice and you can have a lot of fun. They play games like Sharks and Minnows and Sumo and tug of war! My favorite thing to do in Jiu Jitsu is the arm bar that Julio recently taught me. Julio is a really cool guy and really cares about his students. He makes me feel very welcome and takes time to show me the moves. The owner Nelson is also a super nice guy too and he and his wife Hillary teach the adult classes. Alex is another instructor that teaches the kids class and he's a lot of fun too. I am learning so much and I'm looking forward to competing in my first tournament in May 2023. I had the chance to drop into the inverted gear academy from out of town and it was an awesome experience. The facility is all brand new mats and very well kept. The classes were run by black belt instructor Hillary who was super technical and made my training partner and I feel right at home. It’s a great environment to visit with how welcoming the instructors and students are and if you live in the area of Bethlehem it’s definitely the spot to look into ! Julio another black belt instructor coordinated with us to let us know we were welcome prior and helped us with technique throughout the class. Overall, grateful to have been a able to train under such great instructors at such a nice academy. Big plus they have a popular gi brand of their own too 🤜🏻🤛🏻
