I always wanted to visit this premiere facility Legion American Jiu Jitsu academy while staying in San Diego, When I first started Jiu Jitsu, Head instructor Keenan was one of my biggest influences through his Worm Guard dvd series. I had the opportunity to train with Prof. Eric Sainz today, who is one of the most technically proficient Black Belts I have ever rolled with. The front desk was very helpful and friendly which is something you don’t come across to often. This place has left a lasting impression on me and I will definitely be back for the Sunday open Mat. I highly recommend taking a class with Eric, it was a great experience!
Real nice corners on the mat space. Ain’t ever seen corners like that, got a nice curve to ‘em (see photo). Really brings the whole place together. Training ain’t bad either. Great atmosphere, loads of training partners to roll with at open mat. We came to San Diego specifically to come train. Everyone had a great time. Friendly staff and clean facilities. Instructors are attentive and walk around to every group, even in larger classes. Also 10/10 on the body wash provided.
Excellent Jiu Jitsu gym. The space is large, well laid out, and very comfortable for training. The front desk staff provides great service and is always friendly and attentive. The cleanliness and overall amenities of the place really stand out. One detail that truly makes a difference is the filtered water dispenser located near the tatami, which also provides ice — extremely convenient for training. Definitely a very well thought-out place for practitioners.
I was visiting San Diego and checked out Legion for their well-known open mat on Sundays. The amount of people in attendance was incredible! Plenty of rolls to go around! The facility was really nice and the mats were excellent quality, clean, and the area was spacious. The bathrooms are super clean and stocked with good amenities. Troy, the front desk staff, was super hospitable and friendly. Would highly recommend for people to check it out if you find yourself in San Diego :)
The best learning environment for anyone brand new all the way to seasoned black belts. Shoutout to coach Amber! She’s always helping my kids get better. Everything about this gym is clean, and my first impression of the gym was the front desk: Courtney and Gannon are the perfect mixture of friendly and professional. It feels like we’ve become close friends after a few rolls. Other gyms will hand you a paper with prices, but this gym will really get to know your goals and are open to negotiation.
Legion jiu jitsu is a great school! I had great time training in the school. The masters are also training with the students and also getting better, and the atmosphere is great. Furthermore, there is more personal attention between the teacher and the students . Moreover, the gym is huge and has a lot of mat space. Great experience I would recommend anyone to at least give it a go!
