🌟 Five Years of Growth, Strength, and Community at Gallegos Jiu Jitsu 🌟 Our family has been part of the Gallegos Jiu Jitsu kids program for over five years, and I can’t imagine a better place for my boys to grow—not just as athletes, but as confident, respectful young men. From day one, the focus on self-defense has been empowering. The instructors teach practical techniques in a safe, supportive environment, helping kids learn how to protect themselves while building discipline and resilience. What sets Gallegos apart is the heart behind the training. The coaches are incredibly skilled, but more importantly, they’re deeply invested in each child’s development. They foster a culture of encouragement, accountability, and mutual respect. My boys have gained not only physical strength but also emotional confidence and leadership skills that extend far beyond the mat. The kids program is structured, fun, and inclusive—perfect for beginners
I'm writing this review from a visitor's perspective. I train BJJ in Los Angeles County, but travel to San Diego a few times in the year to see family and friends. Even though I'm on vacation during those trips, my love for BJJ still draws me to visit gyms in the area to get some training in and Gallegos Jiu Jitsu HQ has been a very welcoming and impactful experience! From meeting Professor Elias, and his black belt associates, Cosmo, Aaron, and Ricardo, they have all been nice and inviting, and patient with any questions that I had while drilling. Not only were the instructors a joy to talk with, but even the students were interested in learning more about me and were excited to drill and roll during class. I do appreciate the self-defense aspect of the BJJ training as opposed to the sport training. Due to their many members being cops or in the military, it's great to see an even deeper look to know what really works in real-world lif
Professor Elias was incredibly welcoming. When I mentioned I was visiting from out of town, he told me to bring my kids along. I took them to the kids’ MMA class, and right away, I was impressed. The kids who train there are disciplined, respectful, and skilled. It was clear they’ve been taught well. My kids had a blast and didn’t want to leave. They’re already asking when they can come back. I also joined the 5am MMA & BJJ class, which was a great experience. It was a tough workout with solid technique and, more importantly, a group of guys who support and push each other. What really stood out, though, is how Professor Elias runs the gym. It’s more than just training, it feels like a community, even a ministry. They hold weekly Bible studies, and the environment is built on strong values. "Iron sharpens iron" is more than a phrase here it’s how they live and train. I'll definitely be stopping by next time I'm in town.
Outstanding Jiu Jitsu School and training center! It’s been a great pleasure be a part of and discover Professor Elias’ Gallegos Jiu Jitsu. My 2 daughters have only been training for 2 months and they are excited to participate everyday. In this short time, I can see a positive improvement in their confidence, self defense ability and capacity to take direction and learn. The professors and coaches are well experienced and keenly instruct the students to their specific abilities. They are very patient and consistently drill ensuring that every student learns to progressively get better. The students are challenged and expected to rise to meet those challenges. It is encouraging to meet such a positive community here. I know that everyone is looking out for each other, to help all involved to learn self defense, martial arts and life lessons together. I have recommended this school to two families already and will continue to do so becau
I recently attended a free self-defense training at Gallegos Jujitsu, and it was a great experience. I was nervous at first, but the environment was very welcoming and supportive. Professor Gallegos was caring, knowledgeable, and funny, which helped make the class feel relaxed and engaging. All the professors were helpful and patient, making sure everyone felt comfortable and understood the techniques. The training was informative and not difficult to follow — perfect for beginners. I left feeling more confident and empowered. I highly recommend Gallegos Jujitsu to anyone interested in learning self-defense in a positive and encouraging space.
My son and I both train here and the expertise on all levels is phenomenal. Kids can choose from Gi, No Gi and MMA to become well rounded martial artists. Adults classes are offered in mornings and evenings to accommodate busy schedules. Not only have we grown in our sport here, but we've gained lifelong friendships and become part of this jiu-jitsu family. Everyone here is welcoming, encouraging and so supportive. I highly recommend the very empowering women's self defense class taught by Professor Elias!
