Alliance Training Center is a great gym for both CrossFit and for Krav Maga. I have worked out here for the past 3 1/2 years and have experienced their CrossFit program (both through private training and classes) and their Krav Maga program (through private lessons). It is the most fun gym that I've ever trained at, and that's comparing it to about 30 different gyms that I have trained at over the course of my life. The one aspect of the Alliance Training Center that sets it leagues above every other gym is its amazing and collegial community of coaches and gym members. Everyone at this gym is down-to-earth and friendly and genuinely welcoming. When I first started training at Alliance and was a relative beginner in CrossFit, this welcoming environment of people really helped me and encouraged me as I learned how to master the CrossFit basics, particularly since I am not the most coordinated person when it comes to athletics! Do you like picking up heavy stuff and putting it back down? Punching and kicking? Hanging out with people who feel the same way? I have been a member of this gym for two years and my skills and fitness have improved tremendously. The best part is that I have not been injured in that time, which is a testament to the care put into the longterm health of gym members by the coaches. Classes can be modified for any skill level, so no one should feel intimated to try. With the wide range of class offerings, you can never get stuck in a fitness rut as there will always be something to challenge you. Alliance has rolled with the COVID punches with impressive creativity. We clean, we train, and then we clean again. We occupy a beautiful new outdoor space where we can remain distanced and masked while kicking a$. The gym bends over backwards to meet our needs and elicit our feedback. I have been lucky enough to make amazing friends over these
Alliance Training Center is much more than a gym, it’s a community. The quality of instruction is superb, and the coaches who are extremely knowledgeable, provide a positive and motivating environment. There is a real benefit to training at Alliance, and it’s the one-on-one availability of the instructors. I was new to cross fit and weightlifting when I joined, and I received a tremendous amount of support and personal instruction. Likewise, the members are positive and encouraging of one another, which rounds out the experience of training at this facility. I joined the gym to have a place to work out, but it gave me so much more than that.
I never enjoyed exercise before I joined Alliance. No lie. I started with their Krav classes because I appreciated the efficiency of the form, and wanted to learn how to defend myself quickly and easily without memorizing complicated techniques. Then I learned about their heavy bag classes, Strikefit - a mix of Krav and kickboxing. Apparently, I love kickboxing. Then I wanted to learn how to lift weights without hurting myself, and to gain muscle mass now that I'm in my 30s. Apparently, I also love CrossFit. Carlos is the best coach. I feel so supported, seen, and accepted at this gym. It's also pet and LGBTQ friendly - getting to work out when someone's brought their pup and to also know that I won't be targeted for being queer is just the best experience. Thank you Alliance, I never want to belong to another gym!
I love this gym! I've been coming here ever since they first opened. The teachers are all extremely nice and knowledgeable and it's really more like a family than one of the many impersonal gyms around. The owner, John Whitman, is teaching many of the classes himself. He's a sixth degree black belt in KM and has written several books about the subject, so you know you are getting the best instruction available. Also, now with Covid, they've moved to a superb outdoor facility, where you can get a great workout in, but still stay safe. Masks are mandatory and all equipment is sterilized before and after class. They've even provided free Covid testing to members. I highly recommend this gym!
I have been a member of this gym since its early days. The coaches are incredible, the community is lovely and now, with outdoor facilities and masks and social distance protocol, I am fit AND safe. I love it here. And no matter what you are into, you can find it here: kickboxing, self defense, circuit training and Crossfit style classes. And if classes aren’t your thing, you can use the facilities during open gym.
