GRPL Club has become so much more than a Jiu Jitsu academy for our family. It has become a place of growth, discipline, leadership, humility, confidence, and real life lessons. I train here myself, and I also have five of my kids training at GRPL. As a father, there is nothing better than watching your children be surrounded by strong leadership, high standards, and coaches who genuinely care about their development on and off the mats. Professor Yan McCane has built something special in Sumner. His knowledge, skill, and leadership show in the way he teaches, the way the students carry themselves, and the culture inside the academy. We compete as a family, but what I appreciate most is that the lessons go way beyond medals. My kids are learning discipline, respect, resilience, focus, accountability, and how to handle pressure. We absolutely love GRPL Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu! Our son has been attending classes here for the past three years, and we have witnessed tremendous growth in him both emotionally, mentally, and physically. Jiu-Jitsu has not only improved his performance in other sports but also positively influenced his academic work. Professor Yan is truly amazing! He is patient, kind, and constantly motivates the kids to reach their full potential. His dedication to self-improvement and genuine care for children is apparent in his teaching style. The kids absolutely adore him and hang on to his every word. Additionally, the gym feels like a second family to us.
We absolutely love this kids Jiu-Jitsu program! The coaches are patient, knowledgeable, and amazing with children. They focus not only on technique, but also on confidence, discipline, respect, and having fun. My child has grown so much—physically and mentally—since starting here. The environment is safe, positive, and very welcoming for both kids and parents. Highly recommend to any family looking for an incredible martial arts program for their kids!
I have been attending class now for the last three weeks, twice a week. Professor Yan is extremely knowledgeable and an excellent teacher. I had the opportunity to grapple with Professor Yan and I can say it was probably the most humbling experience I’ve personally ever been through. Which is a testament to his level of expertise. I can also say the other coaches (mainly blue belts in the classes I have attended) are also very good at what they do. I try to grapple with at least one of them per class to try and learn (get destroyed 😂), and pick up as much technique from them as possible. Overall I would recommend this school to anyone who is interested.
My entire family has become members of GRPL. They are family oriented and have an awesome curriculum. It’s very clean which is important. They have a play area for the little kids and just put bleachers in the gym for more seating area! Prof Yan is amazing with the kids along with the rest of the coaches. They teach safe technique and discipline. Highly recommend this place, esp for families!
Professor Yan is great with kids. My kids love going to his classes and jiu jitsu has really helped them grow. Professor Yan teaches in a way that kids really understand and learn/memorize how to safely use techniques while having fun!
