I’ve been following Wave Combat Sports and Coach Micah on Instagram for about 6-8 months and his content has always been great - with that being said I wanted to check out the gym whenever I decided to go back home to visit Seattle. I’m visiting Seattle for a week from Norfolk, VA and I dedicated a day to go to Tacoma to check out Wave. I was very impressed with the gym with how open and spacious it was. There was a centralized ring and dedicated mats for BJJ on one side and Muay Thai with heavy bags on the other. Weight lifting equipment surrounded the outside and cardio machines on the other end of the gym. Very well rounded facility for fighters, practitioners and athletes. Also, very clean! I attended the 12pm bag class, which was a quick 30-minute workout, but it was structured great with back to back rounds of concept work. Coach Micah gave me great tips on my techniques that needed work and explained it in different ways until I
Wave combat sports IS the spot to go if you want to get better as a striker! Coach Micah Browns' program cuts out all of the unnecessary elements of training, and focuses on fundamentals/technique and builds your skill base up from there. Every class I’ve been to feels like a paid seminar worth of knowledge, and you can tell everything being taught has been methodically thought out and thoroughly structured. It has also been a blessing to be able to pick Micah’s brain during class, he’s obsessed with the sport and his understanding of striking dynamics is world class. The gym facility is huge and has all the equipment you need to train as well as a boxing ring in a central location. It is also split with a weight lifting gym called The Training Pit (if you ever want to add muscle growth or extra conditioning to your program). The gym community has been awesome; everyone is very chill, down to earth, and welcoming. While I have not tried
This may be my favorite place I've trained to date. As far a the gym goes, they have every tool and piece of equipment you'd need, in a spacious area, that never feels crowed or overly busy. The environment in this gym is exceptional. I felt welcomed immediately. The culture here is very positive and supportive. If you are looking to train Muay Thai or BJJ, this is an excellent gym. They offer frequent, high quality classes. The instructors are knowledgeable. The training partners are skilled and supportive. And, a special shout out to Rudy Gonzalez, the BJJ coach. He makes everyone, experienced or beginner, feel welcome in his classes. He creates a good atmosphere that is both playful and focused on getting better. I have learned a lot, progressed my BJJ game, and enjoyed my time thoroughly.
Absolutely love this place. It has been one of my happy places since moving down to Tacoma last year. Coach Micah is an absolute wizard, his passion and knowledge for martial arts is unmatched. Coach Rudy does an amazing job teaching grappling. The environment is top notch, with good people from all types of background, and all skill levels. Highly reccomend this gym from someone just getting into martial arts to skilled figthers with multiple years of experience. Its not everyday you can be sparring a beginner, than in the next spar facing a highly skilled trained professional fighter. The gym is a safe and clean environment, with all the equipment and people you would need to reach your fighting and athletic potential. Its filled with good people willing to give advice, and spar and train at your comfort level. I personally have felt my skill and passion for martial arts increase a ton since training here. I have met and formed bonds
I’ve been training Muay Thai here for a while now, and I can’t recommend this gym enough. Coach Micah brings a unique energy and expertise to every class. His ability to break down techniques so they’re accessible to all levels — from beginners to advanced students — is exceptional. He keeps sessions engaging, challenging, and fun, creating an environment where you’re always learning and improving. Beyond the training, what really stands out is the sense of community. I’ve been to gyms in the past where it felt hard to connect, but that’s not the case here. From day one, I felt welcomed by both Micah and the other members. As a woman, it’s especially important to me to feel safe and supported in a space like this, and this gym delivers exactly that. The instruction is clear, controlled, and thoughtful — I’m confident I can push myself without the worry of getting hurt. If you’re looking for high-quality instruction, a great workout, and
