Overall - This gym is wonderful; they have an empowering atmosphere, great coaches, a talented pool of fighters, and the best gym culture I have ever been a part of. Atmosphere - The gym has a welcoming and encouraging approach that appeals to all levels of training. Beginners can build technique and confidence in a challenging yet supportive room. More advanced fighters will have your work cut out for you as the gym is filled with lions. Coaches - Christopher Stone and Christine Stanley lead a crew of experienced and dedicated coaches. The coaches are always willing to meet you wherever you are at, and they genuinely care about making everyone that walks through their door better. Several other black belts and countless purple/brown belts roam the mats and are there to lean on and offer help when needed. Talent - There are numerous talented BJJ and MMA fighters of all shapes and sizes. In my opinion, GH has the most skilled crop of fem
We've been taking our son to GHMMA for almost a year now. We initially started there because when we started asking around, the other jiujitsu place in Gig Harbor didn't respond to any of our phone calls or emails. But GHMMA was quick to respond. We showed up for the first class and found the staff very welcoming. Since starting there my son has grown in confidence, as well as developed increased body awareness (he has sensory processing disorder and has a tendency to be overly physical with people) He has made friends, and I've even developed friendships with some of the other parents. The community in this gym is really special! My youngest kid has now decided to start training as well, and it's really cool to listen to the kids chat on the drive home about the class. If you're thinking about trying martial arts for yourself or your kids, definitely give GHMMA a try!
This gym is so amazing I would recommend this place to anyone. I trained there over two years and it was amazing. The head coach chris stone is fantastic he always went above and beyond for his student . I fought three times while training there and chris and the other coaching staff took such great care of me and my fellow student. I even brought both my sister to join the gym and the had the greatest experience. It is a family friendly great uplifting environment. I have traveled around the world trained in three gyms in mexico in thailand Guatemala and multiple gyms in the states and by fare it was the greatest experience. If you are looking for a great gym for you or your family this is the place.
I've been going to the morning BJJ classes for about 6 months now. It's extremely convenient to have a class available that early in the morning. The instructors and students have always been supportive, respectful, and helpful. Things like adding you to a group text to make sure you're aware of the next days class, informing you of events, and customizing classes for individual needs. I can't say enough about what this gym has done for me!
My 9 year old daughter absolutely loves the kids Jiu Jitsu class!! We love the atmosphere, cleanliness & program here!! Chris Stone & the other coaches have been absolutely welcoming as well as personable with her as she learns these invaluable life skills! We are incredibly lucky to have such an amazing program & highly recommend to anyone interested!
Gig Harbor MMA is an amazing gym! I've attended this gym on and off over several years and I've never been short of impressed. Everyone who coaches and trains here is very welcoming to all new members, no matter your skill level or athletic ability. Chris Stone is a great coach, with elite skill and knowledge! If you're debating on which local gym to attend, or which gym to sign your kids up for, this is the one!
