Rockstar has had such a positive influence on our family in a relatively short timespan (hard to believe it’s only been roughly 6 months now!). Coach Austin embodies a team-centric, family style environment day in day out, which is something a lot of places might say they do, but usually end up falling short. Roughly 6 months ago, we started Nick in their beginner program. From the very first class, we could tell he was hooked. What I immediately noticed was the positivity and energy Coach Austin exuded when he worked with the kids. He’s got a way of relating with them that builds their confidence and while setting clear and direct expectations. Coach Austin is literally helping to grow these kids into respectful, confident, and capable individuals that understand their training is NOT for bullying or proving you’re tough, but for defending themselves in life. Coach Austin wraps up each class with a 3-5 minute talk about the “Word of th
My ten year old son has practiced BJJ at RockStar for about five years. When our daughter turned six, she asked to take BJJ there, as well, and she loves it. It has been tremendously beneficial for both kids. The kids start out in a helpful anti-bully class before moving to the appropriate BJJ class for their ages. The classes are not intimidating for newcomers. The classes are well structured and provide a solid foundation in BJJ. Coach Lawson does a great job with the kids!
I've been training here for almost 2 years in Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai, and it’s been an excellent experience. Coach Lawson is a great instructor who knows how to get the best out of you. Jiu Jitsu is his passion and its evident. Wise beyond his years and cares to see you succeed. Also, Mr. Jerome has the best dad jokes you’ll ever hear, I'd argue they're payment worthy. Rockstar is family, everyone supports each other and works hard to improve. Highly recommend this gym to anyone serious about training and being part of a great community.
If you're looking for an amazing BJJ school, RockStar North Prosper is the place to be! I’ve trained there myself and can confidently say the atmosphere is incredible—welcoming, energetic, and supportive. The coaches are top-notch, bringing both expertise and genuine enthusiasm to every class. They have a way of making each session not only educational but also exciting and fun. I actually drive by five other schools just to bring my kid here because I know they’re getting the best possible training in an environment that builds skill, confidence, and character. If you’re considering trying out BJJ for yourself or your family, I highly recommend checking this place out. It’s worth every mile!
We've been attending this gym for a little over 2 years and I've been meaning to write a review for a little while now... If you have a little one that you're considering martial arts for, CHOOSE THIS GYM! Not only will their God-given skills be amplified, their confidence, their discipline, their leadership, and their heart will grow for everyone in their life. These coaches have not only been coaches but also role models and extensions of our family! They are a great light in the world that has grown so dark. Proud of Coach Austin's & Ms. Madee's commitment to each other, the gym, and the kids under their watch. Our kids are thriving! <3
We have had the pleasure of knowing and training with professor Somalia several times over the past few years at Rockstar North McKinney. He’s an amazing coach, teacher and person. He is great for kids and adults. He truly loves and is dedicated to bjj and mma. He has helped our daughter grew in confidence and also continues to support her along her journey. He been there to give her advice after some hard losses and big wins at a tournaments. He is a great help and supporter of an outreach program one of his black belts runs. Him and his family are wonderful people on and off the mats!!
