As a loving parent of two Brazilian jiu-jitsu students, I care about the facility’s cleanliness, safety and overall atmosphere, as well as the faculty members’ professionalism, knowledge of the sport, and their hearts for the students. *This brand new gym features a fresh-scented interior with a glass-walled kids room/ private coaching room at the deeper side of the mat, allowing new moms with loud babies to be present while their older kids can attend their class. *In case you didn’t have time to change into your Gi, they have a changing room aside from their two bathrooms. *Instructors Rodrigo and Monique are powerful yet gentle teachers. You will love their respectful and passionate coaching style, they are amazing. I saw younger students being built up not only physically but also emotionally as well. *Danielle is one of the owners and she has a heart for the jiu-jitsu community. She too is a jiu-jitsu mom, and she loves to help uni
Been here for a few months after transferring gyms. My family and I all train Jiu Jitsu and have decided to joined the team at north south Jiu Jitsu and I couldnt be more happier with the choice. My wife and I are purple belts, our sons are blue belt and yellow belt we all train in the adult classes. Since joining we were welcomed with a positive heart felt and sincere appreciation from Everyone. The community and team environment feeling makes us all enjoy and recommit to Jiu Jitsu and makes us want to train hard and show up more than before. I recommend anyone to come try out a class and see for yourself the environment, culture, and family like environment being cultivated within these four walls. We recently held an open mat benefitting the we defy foundation and had an amazing turn out and hit our fundraising goal!
I cannot recommend this gym enough! My family and I, including myself (39), my son (13), and my daughter (6), have been training here for a while, and it’s been an incredible experience for all of us. They are not only highly skilled but also patient and dedicated to making each class enjoyable and educational, no matter the age or skill level. My daughter, who is just 6, has really thrived here thanks to their thoughtful teaching style. This gym has truly become a second home for our family, and we are grateful for the positive influence it has had on all of us. Whether you're a beginner or looking to take your Jiu Jitsu to the next level, this place is perfect for everyone. Highly recommend!
North South Jiu Jitsu is one of those places you can feel the good vibes the moment you walk in. As a purple belt, I’ve trained in enough gyms to know when a culture is intentional and this one absolutely is. The environment is welcoming, supportive, and encouraging at every level. Whether you’re brand new or experienced, you’re treated with respect and pushed in a way that helps you grow without ego. The professors genuinely care not just about your jiu jitsu, but about you as a person. They’re present, invested, and always willing to help you improve. The room is filled with solid training partners, positive energy, and people who want to see each other get better. It’s the kind of gym where you feel comfortable learning, making mistakes, and showing up consistently. If you’re looking for high level instruction, a strong culture, and a place that feels like home, North South is it.
I moved to Texas from Utah last year and have been training at this gym for almost a year now. I’m a purple belt and have trained at different places before, but this gym stands out in the best way. The professors focus on more than just submissions. They teach you how to win by earning points, controlling positions, and making smart decisions. That kind of instruction has helped me grow a lot, especially since I want to compete more. I’ve seen the professors compete in IBJJF tournaments and they always perform at a high level and bring home medals. They lead by example. The professors and staff are very friendly and respectful. My teammates welcomed me from the beginning and have always helped me prepare for competitions. They push me to reach a higher level in both Gi and No-Gi. What really means the most to me is how supportive they are. I am deaf and even though they don’t know American Sign Language, they always try their best to c
