Highly Recommend This Gym! I can’t say enough good things about this gym. When I first signed up my kids, my main goal was to help them develop self-confidence, discipline and learning more about what they are capable of. Six months later, I’m genuinely amazed at how much they’ve grown. Not just in their physical abilities, but in their mindset and overall attitude. From day one, the atmosphere at the gym was welcoming and professional. Professor Agudo is truly an exceptional leader. He has a rare combination of passion, patience, and talent that makes a huge difference in how the kids learn. He sets high expectations while maintaining a respectful and encouraging environment. He genuinely cares about the development of each student, both on and off the mats. My son was able to win 2nd place at his first competition due to Professor Agudo’s guidance and encouragement . My kids are now more confident, focused, and disciplined. It’s obvio
I was staying in Murphy for a week and was looking for a Jiu Jitsu Facility to train at during my stay. My sister recommended VA Academy in Wylie and I have no regrets training there during my stay. I took pretty much every class while I was there. On Thursday, I took 4 classes in a day that's how much I valued the training. Professor Vini is a great instructor and I learned a lot during my short time at his school. He takes a lot of pride making sure you understand why you are doing the technique, not just showing it. The facility is very clean and there is an easy going atmosphere. Everyone I met at the training facility were very nice and helpful. I highly recommend VA Jiu Jitsu Academy, if you live in the area. I can't wait to training at VA Academy again next time I visit.
My daughter and I both started training here in January. My daughter takes the little kids class and I've seen so much growth in her confidence, discipline, and social skills. She absolutely adores Professor. He is really great with the kids. After every class she comes running over to me with a huge smile on her face. For me, this academy has been a saving grace and kept me grounded during a very difficult year. The women who train here, especially the co-owner Erica, have been above and beyond supportive and helpful. Everyone that trains here is so welcoming and invested in seeing you grow. All of my training partners have had the patience of saints because I'm always confused 😂. At this academy you will truly feel like family. If that wasn't enough, it is impeccably clean and beautiful.
I’ve had an incredible experience at this Jiu-Jitsu gym! From the moment I walked in 12 months ago, I was greeted by a welcoming and supportive community. Professor Agudo is highly skilled but also passionate about teaching, making every class both challenging and enjoyable. On top of that, he practices what he preaches as he is still a high level competitor himself. Professor Agudo takes the time to explain techniques thoroughly, and there’s a real emphasis on progression, regardless of your skill level. The gym is clean, well-equipped, and has a great atmosphere that fosters personal growth both on and off the mat. If you’re looking for a place to train where you feel like part of a family, this is definitely the spot! Come join us🤙🏼
From the little kid classes to the adult classes, top notch! The appreciation towards Veterans and men/women in uniform goes greatly noticed, being a retired Vet I can’t express how thankful I am for this academy allowing an outlet of physical expression and in controlled way for our service members. Hands down I’m beyond impressed! Professor Agudo runs a family oriented, efficient and clean academy that helps children and adults challenge themselves mentally and physically. All that is required is a desire to learn and willingness to listen. My son has been doing BJJ here for 3 months and I’ve been training for just over 2. It has created another way to bond with my son, and has opened my eyes to how vulnerable you really are without any training. I can’t recommend checking them out enough and seeing what your body can be capable of achieving is truly humbling. Stay weird, join the family and go train! -Mike
Clean, spacious facilities with a lounge area. Mats are very nice with sublayer so takedowns aren’t a problem. Friendly, supportive members and the Professor is LEGIT with structured classes. They even keep Listerine and DudeWipes in the bathrooms. #theygetme. Love this place. Updated: Been here for a few months now and no matter how many people show up to class, whether it’s a couple (not often) or a lot, it’s always a good session and good practice. Professor has plenty of drills, routines, and rolling scenarios to make any class productive and challenging. I feel much improved from when I walked in the door just a few months ago. Plenty of class times to fit any schedule too.
