I wanted to share what a positive impact my time at Carlson Gracie (formerly Gracie Barra) has been on my life. I have always had an interest in Jiu Jitsu, but felt intimidated getting started. Although I played sports, I had no martial arts experience prior to starting. After the birth of my son and maintaining a stressful job, I knew I needed a outlet for stress. I finally decided to give it a try. Professor Andre, Camila, Patricia, and Gary all were so welcoming from the moment that I first walked into the gym. I tried one other gym before Carlson Gracie and it was night and day the difference in atmosphere. You can tell that everyone at CG is passionate about BJJ and the positive impact it can have on your life. One aspect of the gym I really want to emphasize and was unexpected was the social element. I can truly say that I feel like I have bonded with many of the other members and have made many friends through jiu jitsu. The cult
My daughter recently started training in Jiu-Jitsu back in July, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the impact it has had on her. From the very first class, I noticed a shift in her confidence and enthusiasm. The environment is incredibly welcoming, with skilled and supportive instructors who are dedicated to helping every student grow. One of the biggest benefits has been watching her develop not only physically but mentally. Jiu-Jitsu challenges her to think strategically, work on her coordination, and develop resilience. She has become more focused and disciplined, both on and off the mat. The camaraderie among the students is another highlight. The friendships she’s made have been an added bonus, and it’s wonderful to see her so engaged and supported by her peers. I’m also very reassured knowing that the self-defense skills she’s learning are practical and empowering. She’s gaining more than just fitness—she’s learning techniques t
I am 44 years old, never done Jiu Jitsu at all. I walked into the gym for a trial class and everyone was just so friendly and welcoming. I am now several classes in, and all the instructors, and members I have come in contact with have been nothing but helpful, warm, patient, and welcoming. The facility is beautiful, the staff are wonderful, and I cannot say enough kind things about them. If you are looking for a place to train, I would highly recommend them. I cannot wait to see what I am able to accomplish with them, especially as a fresh new student.
Over 2 years and still going strong. Amazing location and Staff. Experience: This is an amazing gym for what ever level of bjj you wish to achieve from hobbyist to competitor. Professor Andre will push you to achieve all of your goals. The atmosphere is top notch. There are no egos or attitudes on the mats. Everyone is friendly whether it is your first day or 5th year. Staff: Professor Andre is amazing! He is very detailed in his explanation of the techniques and makes sure everyone is on the same page before he moves on. Mrs. Camilla is an awesome program director. She keeps the school informed on multiple fronts via emails, texts, and in person. She is always ready to assist with any questions you may have. Coach Gary is a phenomenal coach for both kids and adults. He takes time to help demonstrate techniques and makes sure all the students understand. The newest addition Coach Patricia is taking the team to a whole new level. She is
I came to CG about 10 months into my blue belt and they have definitely helped me with my bjj game. The instructors are amazing and the diversity of their styles will help about anyone who walks in the door wanting to level up. Professor Andre and Professor Lucas are both high level competitors and if competing is your thing you will advance with them on your corner. If you are coming into this as a hobbyist you will also reap those benefits. The community is great too. Nothing but professionalism and support. An abundance of classes from morning, noon and several evening classes will always satisfy your need for more jiujitsu. One of the best schools in the DFW. Come and roll with us.
Cancelled all other kids activists and my 4 and 6 year olds are both thriving and loving their new Jiu Jitsu routine. The coaches are top tier, athletic and super patient - there’s been atleast 4 coaches per class which helps keep the little kids on track. We’ve done taekwondo and karate, this has by far been the most engaging and physically challenging. They don’t let the kids slide but they do it with positivity. Really impressed so far, I can see my kids improving.
