My daughter and I have been training with Professor Matt for the past 2 years. He is an amazing instructor and overall great person. He is very patient and puts a lot of attention and care into his students' progression. He trains BJJ at all levels and is great at adjusting techniques that cater to each student's size, body type, and level of athleticism. Professor Matt is also great at giving equal attention to ALL of the students during the kid classes. I've seen some other overpopulated schools that have the kids drill/spar with little to no instruction... That simply does not happen at Diamondback Jiu-Jitsu. Diamondback Jiu-Jitsu is a great place for the entire family to train. Everyone we have met and trained with have made us feel like family. This is a place where everyone genuinely cares about helping each other level up. You won't find rolling partners that are just trying to smash you to prove their ego here.
I recently dropped in to Diamondback while traveling to see family. I had a great experience at this school. While there I watched the tail end of a Saturday kid's class, which looked like a ton of fun and very engaging for the kids. For the Adult's class, the warm up was pretty standard and definitely got my heart rate up. During class Professor Matt demonstrated two techniques for the day, gave plenty of details and personalized coaching as he walked around to help everyone. After the technique portion the class moved into a situational "shark tank" mode where three people were in the middle and had to work starting in specific techniques. It was a lot of fun and gave me opportunity to work with different members. I would definitely recommend the school for anyone in Frisco or anyone looking to drop in. The space is clean and well taken care of, there's a good mix of age and colored belts on the mats. I've trained since 2016 and have
My husband and three children (boy and two girls) train at Diamondback Jiujitsu under the instruction of Professor Matt Jones. As a mother and wife of those who train, I cannot speak highly enough of Matt's instruction, patience and professionalism. He is incredible working with any age group, from little ones to seasoned adults. It is truly his calling and gift. Aside from outstanding teaching, the community and people who are a part of this school are second to none. We do not have family in the area but our Diamondback family makes us feel like we do.
As a brown belt with over 10 years of experience training at multiple academies, I can say this one is truly legit. From day one, I felt genuinely welcomed—no egos, just support from everyone on the mats. The family atmosphere is outstanding: inclusive for all ages and levels, with real camaraderie that builds friendships and keeps training enjoyable. Prof. Matt Jones is an exceptional leader and coach—his detailed, personalized instruction has significantly polished my skills, refining techniques I’ve carried for years. Highly recommend Diamondback Jiu Jitsu to anyone at any level.
Starting my Brazilian jiujitsu journey with Professor Matt at Diamond Back has been one of the most relevant decisions in my life, this school is more than that, is a community where you will grow with the rest of your class. Im glad to be part of the DB Jiujitsu family. If you are planning to start or improve your Brazilian jiujitsu or Muay Thai this is the right school.
Diamondback Jiu-Jitsu is amazing place for our kids!!! Coach Matt is great and passionate. We would highly recommend this place to my friends and families. This place a hidden GEM. This is the BEST JIU-JITSU place in city of Frisco. We attended our first Jiu Jitsu tournament and we are so happy with outcome for a such short time.
