Top rate facility and staff. Have trained at a handful of bjj gyms and have been experienced good and bad. There is no instructor worshipping here or money chasing by the staff and owners. Just no nonsense training and instruction. Instruction is high level by coaches who still currently compete and are in the game. The staff and facility is family friendly. What I love most about this gym is that you can tell that the main focus of the staff is to provide a legitimate service to the community and not to just use a legacy to make money. Coaches are excited to see students progress and understand techniques. You can tell that all the coaches here are invested in Bushido literally and emotionally and genuinely care about the success of the each student. The owner has done an excellent job of staffing this facility with a family of coaches who not only are highly skilled jujitsu athletes and instructors; but also people who make apparent b
I started training Jiu Jitsu 4 years ago and I have been to so many different gyms and I would have to say Abdias is by far the best of all the gyms I’ve been too since stating Jiu Jitsu. They are all so kind and welcoming and not only do they provide an amazing, safe, training environment but the teaching is as high level as you will get in the area. The professor’s at Abdias have very high level Jiu Jitsu skills and knowledge. They really support their students on and off the mats and treat everyone like family. They also have a wonderful kids program. I highly recommend this gym everyone! I’m so happy to finally find a home gym that I love.
I’ve been training here since mid-Feb, back when it was Bushido, and I already knew from the start that this place was different. Now rebranded as Abdias BJJ, the spirit of the gym remains the same, strong, grounded, and full of heart. What brought me here initially was my daughter, she’s a student here, and after seeing how much she was growing in confidence, discipline, and joy, I decided to join too. I had never trained in BJJ before, but the moment I stepped in, I felt welcomed like family. This isn’t just a gym. It’s a community. The culture here is family-oriented, respectful, and deeply supportive. Whether you’re a total beginner (like me :) or more experienced, the coaches Neto and Senior Carlos + members meet you with patience, encouragement, and real knowledge. You’re never made to feel out of place. You’re seen. You’re guided. And you’re celebrated. This gym it’s a place where both kids and adults can grow, not just in skill,
I cannot recommend this Jiu Jitsu school highly enough, especially when it comes to working with kids! The instructors are not only incredibly skilled but also fantastic at creating a positive, supportive, and fun learning environment. They know how to balance discipline with encouragement, making every class both educational and enjoyable for children. The program is well-structured, with age-appropriate techniques and lessons that keep kids engaged while helping them develop confidence, focus, and self-discipline. The staff genuinely cares about the individual growth of each child, fostering an atmosphere of respect and teamwork. It's amazing to see how quickly the kids grow in skill and character under their guidance. If you're looking for a place where your child can learn valuable life skills while having fun and staying active, this is the place to be. The transformation in my child has been incredible, both on and off the mat!
Being in Oak Cliff, we were looking for a gym for our children to train locally. They had no experience, but their transformation over the last 10 months has been remarkable to see. Not only has our son grown to love the sport of jiu-jitsu, but has also learned many of the values taught at Abdias - discipline, respect & good sportsmanship. All the instructors here are top notch, with a very welcoming family oriented culture. We are thankful to have joined such a wonderful community & if you’re looking to get into BJJ - don’t hesitate in joining the Abdias family.
I was in Dallas for a business trip and wanted to get some training in so I decided to drop into an evening class at Bushido/Abidias. The dojo is very clean and spacious. The gym manager, Krysta, is very nice and welcoming. In the training session, the Professor demonstrated various knee cut options following a single leg takedown. He provided a lot of great details and I’ll definitely incorporate these techniques into my game. All the people that trained here were super friendly too. Had some great conversations with them after rolling. One of the members even offered me a ride back to where I was staying. It is evident that they have cultivated a strong sense of community and an excellent gym culture. I’ll 100% visit again next time I'm in Dallas.
