I’ve been training at 10th planet Reading for the past four months and it’s been an incredible experience. The coaches are knowledgeable, patient, and really dedicated to helping everyone improve, no matter your level. The atmosphere is welcoming and supportive — it never felt intimidating to step on the mats, even as a beginner. Unfortunately, due to moving and work commitments, I had to step away for now, but I can honestly say this is the best place to learn jiu jitsu in the area. I’m grateful for everything I’ve learned here and look forward to coming back when life things down.
I've only been to a few martial arts gyms, BJJ and otherwise, but this gym, hands down, has the best community I've ever seen in a gym. The atmosphere is not intimidating or threatening, There is no "gym bro"/jock atmosphere, and everyone is extremely supportive, students included. The instructors have decades of experience in grappling, and are completely approachable and willing to personally help you, 100 percent of the time. I've personally had a few years of intermittent BJJ training, all Gracie-based, and I've largely been impressed at the quality of instruction I've received here. Where 10th Planet really shines in comparison to the Gracie schools is that it's absolutely not afraid to teach standup and takedowns, and it's more well-rounded as a result. The mix of content: No-Gi BJJ, Wrestling, and No-Gi Judo, complement each other very well and there is always something new to learn.
Visited Friday night open mat while in the area when I found out this school was Adoptacop affiliated. Very responsive over DM's so I knew I could drop in without worry. Was immediately welcomed at the door and given a basic rundown. Easy check-in process. Lots of mat space. The rounds were very technical and everybody was friendly - good number of ladies as well. Common theme in the room was definitely wrestling and leg attacks, which were all very controlled. I felt very safe rolling with everybody as a smaller female. There were plenty of schools in the area and I am very happy I picked this one! Will be back when I pass through again.
I got a chance to visit this gym on a workcation trip and I am glad I did. Ricky and Chris were very welcoming and run a good class. Great training partners, good vibes and no egos. What more can you ask for. Also, they also have some cool rashguards for sell in case u forgot one. I brought in my coworker to try his first class and Chris was very helpful in getting him going and helping with technique. Definitely recommend if you are in the area and looking to train.
I dropped in to 10th Planet Reading while I was in town for work. The space is bright and clean with more mat space than most. The instructors Chris and Rick were friendly and welcoming. The students embraced me as one of their own. Great instruction, great rounds. I can’t recommend this gym enough. Thanks for having me boys! 🤙🏼
5 stars is not enough. If you ever wanted to try jiu-jitsu but were a bit nervous about walking in the door. than you are just like the rest of us but I promise the coaches at reading will welcome you in with open arms and make you feel like you belong. This new facility is top notch. It has a huge mat space with dressing rooms and even showers. Check them out you will not be disappointed.
