I just joined Armezzani Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and I can honestly say it’s everything you’d want in a BJJ gym and more. I’d never stepped foot in a jiu-jitsu gym before, and walking in for the first time was intimidating. But from the moment I arrived, Lou, the owner, welcomed me like I’d been part of the team for years. The energy in this place is different. The atmosphere is positive, focused, and ego-free. Every person here, from beginners to advanced students, is encouraging and motivated. Lou’s coaching speaks for itself, clear instruction, proven techniques, and a real passion for helping people grow both on and off the mats. If you’re looking for a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gym just north of Pittsburgh where you’ll actually feel comfortable, challenged, and supported, Armezzani BJJ is it. I can’t wait to keep training here and to be part of the next chapter when The Real 1 Training Center opens. Big things coming under this banner—this i
Experience and Devotion Are Second to None! : My young daughter has attended only 3 jiu jitsu classes here so far (we're not leaving! She's just begun), and i cannot speak highly enough of Lou and his amazing staff. I am moved by their ability to provide such a positive and fun training environment. From day one i was in awe at how fantastic the coaches are at making sure every child has hands-on training and no one gets left behind. If you're considering getting your kiddo (or yourself) involved in jiu jitsu (they also offer other programs), and if you want to train with an experienced & devoted team, GO TO ARMEZZANI! You will not be disappointed!
Two of our kids (12 & 8 years old) started training with Coach Lou a few months ago. For some background, our older son truly needed to find an activity/passion and something he was motivated to put his effort towards. Our younger son has a genetic condition that effects his coordination and he participates in weekly physical therapy sessions. Since beginning training I can see the difference in our children. Even in a short time our kids have learned so many irreplaceable skills, made friends and grown in confidence and integrity. Plus our youngest has had his PT time cut in half and can better participate with his class. We truly can’t say enough amazing things about Coach Lou and the environment he’s built. It’s diverse, welcoming and focused on building a better self inside and out.
I cannot say enough about how much this academy means to me. Back in 2019, when I moved home and was looking for a Jiu-Jitsu gym, I signed up for trials at a few big-name places and never went. That’s because the moment I walked into this school, I knew I was home. From the very first class, it just felt right. The atmosphere is rugged and tough, yet completely welcoming. Those are two things you don’t usually find together. But here, everyone looks out for each other, whether it’s your first day or you’re coming back after a few months away (like me). Lou is always there with open arms to welcome you back. Lou and the rest of the high belts are a truly gifted group. They want everyone to succeed, and they bring the best out of you every time you step on the mat. There need to be more gyms like Armezzani Jiu-Jitsu Academy. Highly recommend.
My son has been training at Pride Lands PGH for about 5 months and i have never seen him so excited for something. I started training there about 4 months ago and love every session. Proffesor Lou Armezzani is very passionate about bring up the next generation of grapplers and is awesome with the kids. He is one of the most patient people i have ever met and brings many years of training and experience to the mats. If you want to start training this is the place no matter the skill level or age!
Armezzani Jiu Jitsu Academy has changed my life. I have struggled with my weight and always struggled with staying motivated in the gym, and since joining, I have gained confidence, discipline, and drive. Armezzani offers a supportive environment for one to learn jiu jitsu, from beginner through advanced belts. Coach Lou and his team of coaches offer a wealth of knowledge and support. It has been the best investment in myself I could have made.
