I’m a 48-year-old black belt and dropped in to train at St. Pete BJJ while I was on vacation. I contacted the number on their website and almost immediately Sean got back to me to say I was welcome to drop in and train there. He answered all my questions about class times and whether it was gi or no gi. I went for a Thursday evening class at 6:30pm and the atmosphere was very chill and super welcoming. There was a good mix of belt levels and all age ranges. Of course I ended up with the youngest, toughest, most athletic and technical students 😂 I was impressed with their Jiu-Jitsu, and all the rolls were very respectful. After class I hung around a bit and had some good conversations. I’ll be coming back here next time I’m in St. Pete, you should definitely check this gym out!!!
Awesome experience with Danny and the rest of the team at St. Pete Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I dropped in for an open mat to train while I’m in town, and I cannot say enough good things about the team and the facility. Everyone was very welcoming and offered some awesome training. I will definitely be dropping in again for another class. Thank you to everyone at St. Pete BJJ for the warmth, hospitality, and awesome rolls!
This was my first time practicing Jiu Jitsu in a professional environment and I have to say I was very impressed. I DO NOT know why I haven't tried it sooner. The owner Sean, is an extremely respectful and knowledgeable teacher and I am very happy to have been able to train under him for the night. I just happened to stubble upon this place as I was stranded in Saint Petersburg for the night with my crew. My buddy pushed me to go and I have no regrets what-so-ever. The people that you meet here are so friendly and pull you in with open arms. I felt very welcome, and for that I felt compelled to let others know. If I find myself back in Florida in the next few years, this will be the first place that I roll. Thanks Sean!
Dropped in for a class while vacationing. I really enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere and the clarity of the instruction. Jerry Outlaw had is drill two different 3 step sequences- one that I had never seen and think could become very useful from half guard. The rolls were fun. I noted that the instructor allowed multiple students to advance their positions on him And he coached them to tap him- I think this is awesome and reveals lack of ego on his part and dedication to teaching. I would recommend this place to anybody, and I only got to go here one day! Thank you St. Pete’s BJJ!
St. Pete Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is an excellent gym. They offer beginner classes Monday through Friday, which isn’t always easy to find. I chose this gym because of how well the classes are structured and how welcoming the culture is. Danny is the man—always accommodating, supportive, and invested in everyone’s growth. I’ve brought friends who were visiting, and they’ve all had a great experience in class.
I knew 0 about bjj. Joined in November and it’s been such an extraordinary experience with this school and its instructors. Although it may be nerve racking to try new things, everyone here makes you feel right at home - even if you just want to try it once or a few times. The coaches and teammates have been great teachers by taking their time to walk through the technique while giving me a real challenge. Love it! Looking forward to my journey in Jiu Jitsu with this team.
