As someone really new to jujitsu, this gym has been an amazing experience for me. Professor Kauan, Suzie and Chase are truly world class. They are extremely knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely care about their students. The community here is incredible as well; everyone is friendly and always willing to help teach or give tips, no matter your level. Iv learned something new from rolling with everyone at the gym. The gym itself is clean and well-maintained, making it a comfortable place to train as well. I was out for two weeks due to school and being sick, and the professor actually checked in to see if everything was alright with me. That kind of care shows that this isn’t just a gym but it’s a community where people genuinely look out for each other. Whether you’re just starting out or have years of experience, this gym is an amazing place to grow, learn, and feel supported. Really am glad I started here in my journey and glad I met
Kauan is such a detailed instructor it makes following any class he teaches easy for beginners, and his technique is a great addition for advanced practitioners. Siouxsie is such an experienced and patient kid’s instructor. She is a great role model for everyone on and off the mats! Overall this is a great environment for the whole family. Come create a family of killers on the mats here! Just make sure you’re consistent— because as professor says “consistency is key!”
We love Checkmat Clearwater . In July will make one year with the checkmat family. Professor Kuan, and his wife Sousie are amazing instructors. My son Elijah loves it here. We have noticed such a huge growth in his confidence and strength. All the instructors are kind and very knowledgeable. They help the kids understand and learn techniques at their own pace. It has been such a great experience for our family . I highly recommend!

I've had an amazing experience at Checkmat Clearwater. Kauan and Siouxsie are both very knowledgeable and supportive, and they created a very welcoming environment for both beginners and experts. My son trains in jiu-jitsu, and we’ve been to other places before, but this one is by far our favorite. Here we found the best coach we’ve ever met — truly the best in the world! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the kids are happy, and the instructors are not only kind but also very competent.
