I’ve been training at Fellowship Jiu Jitsu for many years now, and what started as a simple trial class quickly turned into something much more — it became family. From the very beginning, I felt welcomed, supported, and challenged in all the right ways. The instructors, both male and female, create equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of background, experience level, or goals. The program is progressive and easygoing in its atmosphere, but it takes safety, discipline, and being a good training partner very seriously. That balance creates a positive, respectful, and ego-free learning environment where everyone can grow. The instructors are highly skilled and specialized in proper training techniques and they have the belts and experience to back it up. They genuinely care about your development. Consistency is strongly encouraged, and if you ever hit a plateau or a rough patch in your training, they’re right there to help you wo
Fellowship Jiu Jitsu is truly an outstanding place to train. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and part of the family. The environment is very family-oriented, which makes it perfect for kids, yet the classes and training are also excellent for adults of all experience levels. Whether you’re looking to get in shape, learn self-defense, or improve your confidence, this is the perfect place to do it. All of the coaches are wonderful — knowledgeable and passionate about helping everyone learn and improve. They take the time to work with students and make sure everyone feels supported. We’ve enjoyed our experience tremendously and can’t say enough good things about Fellowship Jiu Jitsu. It’s more than just a gym — it’s a community. Highly recommend it to anyone considering joining!
Amazing skilled instructors with a great family-friendly atmosphere. Perfect for any level of experience. My 6yo daughter started jiu-jitsu at 3 years old at Fellowship and she loves it. Her focus and behavior have improved tremendously and I really appreciate everything that Coach Werther and Chelsea have done to help her throughout the years. I also started training here at the same time and I love to continue to learn each day. Jiu-jitsu has inspired such a meaningful positive change for our family and it's an honor to be part of an amazing team like Fellowship Jiu-Jitsu.
Training at Fellowship Jujitsu has honestly changed my life for the better. From day one, the environment was welcoming, motivating, and genuinely supportive. The coaching is top-tier, the instruction is detailed and practical, and everyone pushes each other to improve without ego. It’s more than just learning jiu-jitsu — it’s building confidence, discipline, and mental toughness that carries over into everyday life. The community there feels like family, and that makes all the difference. If you’re in the Sarasota area and even thinking about starting jiu-jitsu, this is the place to be. Couldn’t recommend it more.
I’m a 50-year-old actively practicing cardiologist, and training at Fellowship Jiu Jitsu with Werther over the past year has been genuinely transformative for me—physically and mentally. What started as a personal challenge and curiosity quickly became something I look forward to every week and now consider a core part of my life. Werther is an exceptional teacher: patient, deeply respectful of the art, flexible with my hospital schedule, and incredibly attentive to safety, especially protecting my hands so I can train hard and still care for patients. I’ve seen dramatic improvements in my flexibility, mobility, and endurance, particularly in my hips, where I had almost no range of motion before starting. I earned my blue belt through private lessons, but more importantly, I gained confidence in my body and a passion for training that I didn’t expect at this stage of life. I originally thought I’d stop at blue belt—now I genuinely want
I have been training at Fellowship Jiu-Jitsu in Sarasota under Coach Werther since February, and this school has become a meaningful part of my life. The instruction is technical, patient, and structured, and the environment is one where people are welcomed and supported from day one. I came in as a student and eventually had the chance to coach as well, which gave me an even deeper appreciation for the culture here. You can feel the genuine care for the team, the steady push to grow, and the respect on the mats. Fellowship is a place where you improve in skill and in character. I am grateful to be part of this community and I recommend it to anyone looking for a real home to train.
