I have been studying Jiu-jitsu for just over 15 years, the past 4 years at Katharo Training Center. In these 15 years I have trained and/or visited 6 different jiu-jitsu gyms in the Denver area. Katharo Training Center is by far the best of all the gyms I have known over the years. The instruction is very professional and extremely well organized, with classes and programs every day and most days nearly all day long. Concepts are taught in a logical sequence. Katharo instructors are both knowledgeable (many of which are black belt) and skilled in teaching. It is obvious that they love the sport and enjoy sharing with the students. Professor Steve Hordinski has an extensive background in bjj and is dedicated to helping you achieve your goals. The facility is by far the cleanest, well equipped and spacious jiu-jitsu gym I have seen. But what I really enjoy about Katharo are the students who are all willing to train and help each other, wh
Steve and all of the instructors there are the best mentors I have had in training martial arts. I came from other MA backgrounds and began to realize BJJ/JiuJitsu is the best for self defense, fitness and has practical applications to anyone, including law enforcement, first responders and other whom have to deal with hostile people in their profession. We have classes and training opportunities 7 days a week, so the money you spend is worth all of it. You do not have to be a cage fighter to train with us, everyone comes to train, little to my age. Kids classes, wrestling, Muay-Thai & MMA, BJJ and self defense classes are taught every week. Discounts for veterans and first responders apply as well. Regardless it's a great price for great training. As of 2025, I have been there for 4 years and at the age of 54. I plan to keep training until I can't. If I can do it at 54, so can you. I loved training there. It was unfortunate that I moved too far away. I have trained in many places all over the world, Professor Steve teaches more than just technique. He teaches and shares the philosophy from a black belt perspective, the angles, pressure, frames that most high-level Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioners utilize. It is one of the most solid fundamental programs that also includes street self-defense. If you or your kids are looking for a place to train I'd highly recommend checking out Katharo Training Center. Very profession, clean with locker rooms that have showers. Lots of fun, tons of classes and open mats, and there is always someone there to help you out with your training.
Incredible martial arts training center for kids and adults alike! I dropped in while on a work trip for a class and private with Steve (owner and professor) and was immediately greeted with kindness and authenticity. Knowing I’m older, they worked with me appropriately and I could immediately see they do the same (and have classes) for people of all demographics. I was taught Gracie BJJ moves that would work for self defense skills as well as for someone wanting to engage in competitive Jiu Jitsu/Grappling/Muai Thai/Wrestling. Also enjoyed the full gym, showers, saunas etc. Highly recommend to the families in Littleton/Denver looking for world class instruction and wanting to get into, or level up, their self defense, workout or martial arts game!
If you're someone looking to build yourself and join a loving community, this is the place for you! I will never choose another place to call home. Since I started training at Katharo I have changed myself physically and mentally. This was done not just from the training but, more importantly, the instructors and students I now call family. I feel nothing but support and care for my growth as a student. Sometimes I sit to the side and watch our open mat and I see everyone working together, smiling, sharing knowledge and helping eachother. It reminds me of how lucky I am to be surrounded by a caring community every day. I love this academy and I don't know where I'd be in life if I didn't start training here.
I’ve been a part of the Katharo community for a few years now and the one thing that has always resonated with me has been their commitment to growth and education and how supportive their community is. I love how this place feels like family. And don’t get me wrong; not in a “let’s chill and have a tea party together” kind of vibe, but a “let’s prepare to go to war” with one another kind of vibe. I also love how dedicated the coaches are to the development of their students; always encouraging growth and not accepting mediocrity. If you are looking for the best quality BJJ in the Littleton area, look no further, Katharo is the full package. Clean bathrooms, mats, steam rooms, a stocked gym - all inclusive.
