Prime Bazillion Jiu Jitsu came highly recommended to me by a friend just as my family moved from Albuquerque, New Mexico to Colorado Springs following my retirement. At the time, I was searching for something meaningful for my four-year-old son, Cannon—something that would teach discipline, confidence, and respect. From the moment we observed the Little Samurai class during our first visit, I knew we had found the right place. More importantly, Cannon knew it too. He was excited to begin his journey, and now—four years later—we have absolutely no regrets. Prime Bazillion Jiu Jitsu is an academy that stays true to the roots of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Professor Marcelo Motta’s vision of teaching authentic BJJ the way it was learned in Rio de Janeiro is evident in every class. His depth of experience is exceptional—over 35 years in the sport, a fifth-degree black belt, and both a No-Gi World Champion and Masters World Champion. The instructio
I’m a purple belt. When I first came to the Springs, I wasn’t looking for a permanent gym because I was in school. I trained at a few places—warrior in the springs and Easton in Arvada. Both recommended Prime when I was ready to settle down and train. I love this team. Often I eschew women’s classes because they often just feel like beginner classes intended for newer women to have a comfortable environment to train. This one surprised me! It has a fantastic women’s team. Over 20 women who regularly train, ranging from white belts to two brown belt women. This is one of the first places where I had a large variety of women to train with, including one who was my same exact weight class! I intentionally went to as many as I could and never felt like I was spinning my wheels. It’s led by a brown belt woman (hi Mo!) who regularly competes. Plus, regularly the women’s team would grab food/coffee at the restaurant next door, so there’s a won
Prime Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a safe and amazing place to learn Jiu jitsu. The kids/teen program is one of the best I have even seen. Each instructor/Professor takes their time to help the kids grow and learn on and off the mat. Some of the adult students started with Prime as a child and years later are still training there. The adult programs really help any skill level develop in Jiu jitsu. My time training at Prime has tough me lesson that help both with completing in tournaments and everyday life. Professor Marcelo helped me understand how to train the right way to achieve my goals. Lessons that will stay with me for a life time. “Train in the storm to fight in the rain” 🤙🏼
My husband and our two children have been training at Prime for almost a year now. We can’t say enough good things about this gym. Professor Marcelo, the owner, has created a positive, supportive, and welcoming community. My husband has trained in jiu-jitsu on and off throughout his adult life, and he has never spoken so highly of a gym or its owner. Training with a knowledgeable and award winning coach has helped him improve significantly. The entire staff, particularly Professor Marcelo and Coach Cameron, have also been very kind and patient with our two boys who started here. We are grateful to be part of this community and would recommend this gym to anyone.
Prime BJJ is an excellent team and great environment. I joined in May 2022 and was immediately welcomed into the family by Coach Cam and Professors Marcelo & Ali. My year at Prime was full of growth in not only my jiu jitsu, but also my sense of discipline and character, as well as a sense of community, especially with my female teammates and my fellow white belt buddies. I really miss my teammates, since I have just moved away, but we still keep in touch and support one another from a distance- that says something to me! Plus, my new professor sent his compliments to Professor Marcelo for "doing a great job with me," and I think that speaks volumes as well. Do yourself a favor and join Prime- you won't regret it :) P.S. As a woman, I felt completely safe and respected in this gym, AND I was regarded as an athlete, just like how any of the guys would be, which is really important. Whether you plan to compete, are taking this up for self
I have been training at Prime for about 7 months now and I have learned more about life than I have playing high school sports. I’m still very young in my Jiu Jitsu journey but I’m learning many lessons about the importance of community, being comfortable in uncomfortable situations, humility, and respect. Training at Prime has changed the way I view obstacles in life, it’s shaped me to persevere and welcome challenges because I’m getting used to those similar situations on the mat. Professor Marcelo is an incredible teacher of life who pushes his students to their potential but also loves them. You can feel the genuineness of the Coaches and Professors when you walk in the door. Prime is a family and I love it for that. I have found such an incredible group of people who come from all walks of life.
