We enrolled our daughter at Combative Fighting Systems because she was experiencing bullying, and we wanted her to gain confidence and learn how to defend herself if necessary. What we found was so much more than just self-defense training. We ended up enrolling all five of our kids, starting with their school program in January 2025, and continuing on at the gym. The impact has been incredible. Not only have our kids grown in confidence, discipline, and respect, but they’ve also developed real skills in a positive and supportive environment. The coaches truly care about the kids and focus on building character just as much as technique. It’s not about fighting, it’s about confidence, control, and knowing how to handle situations the right way. The Gabrielsons are awesome! We have been training here for a bit and could not imagine wanting to go anywhere else. The environment is friendly and welcoming, Instructors are top notch and offer gi and no gi classes. Right inside Black Forest makes it super convenient, honestly I’d travel to have the opportunity to train here not only for the quality of classes but this gym is like Family.
The coaching staff is super knowledgeable with many years of training not just competitive BJJ but real world application. Their kids class is great for building foundational BJJ skills and more importantly instilling confidence into these kids. Couldn’t ask for a better team!

What started as a six-week after-school program turned into a full-blown passion for my 10-year-old — and I couldn’t be more grateful! He has absolutely fallen in love with Jiu-Jitsu, made some amazing friends along the way, and truly learned the sport from the ground up. The best part? Combative fighting systems was a wonderful experience for me. I dropped in from out of state and will be sure to stop by again when in Colorado.
