I recently moved back to COS and was looking for a new Jiu-Jitsu home. 10th Planet has a great reputation and this school was recommended to me by two highly qualified instructors from both the US and Germany. Suffice to say, I have not been disappointed! The atmosphere is very welcoming and Professor Mike and Coach Andrew are extremely patient and detail-oriented teachers. They offer a very generous schedule that includes classes in Nogi BJJ, MMA, Striking and Wrestling. All of the coaches are highly qualified and the classes are outstanding…there’s something here for everyone. The training is serious while still keeping the vibe positive and friendly. I’ve found my new BJJ family!
I’ve been training at 10th Planet Colorado Springs for about 2.5 years now, and joining this gym was one of the best decisions I’ve made. Before coming here, I had never competed and honestly wasn’t sure I ever would. Through consistent encouragement and support from the coaches, I found the confidence to step out of my comfort zone and compete. I’ve gone from an enthusiastic hobbyist to competing at No-Gi Worlds last year, which is something I’m genuinely proud of. I’m also in my mid-40s and in the best shape of my life, which says a lot about the coaching, training, and culture here. I want to specifically shout out our Head Coach Mike, who recently honored me with my purple belt. His coaching, attention to detail, and genuine investment in his students’ growth have made a huge impact on my jiu jitsu and my mindset. I started a year ago at 10th Planet. It has been an awesome journey. The owners are gracious and accommodating. The Coach/owner "Tips" who teaches all the main classes in addition to others, has a lifetime of information and knowledge and is there to assist at every level of training. 10th Planet offers a full array of different classes to choose from jujitsu, striking, wrestling, MMA, and kids classes. In addition, they have several coaches that are extremely proficient in their craft, that can train you one on one to hone your skills. Whether you are a hobbyist, a competitor or someone who wants to learn self defense, this is "The Gym" you are looking for . 10th Planet for life!
My two boys (14 and 7) have been going to 10th Planet for about a month now, and I can't recommend it more. 5 stars is a disservice to this place. My 7 year old can be socially awkward and has tried every sport. So far he hasn't been able to really connect with any of them. That changed when we started coming here and it's because of the staff and culture. They work with him, and since he's inexperienced he sometimes needs a little extra help. He has worked with several different coaches here and their approach is always the same. Patient, compassionate, but still matter of fact so that he learns. That mentality is reflected in the students that attend here, too, as they are also patient and helpful with newcomers. If anyone has been around to multiple gyms, especially in MMA, that's not always the case. My older boy attends the adult class which tends to be a bit more hands off, but it's much of the same. Been going here for a few months now and my only regret is not starting sooner. Coach Mike has created such an excellent place to not only learn, but to push yourself and ultimately become a better person. My son loves the kids bjj and striking classes as well and he’s developing skills that every kid should learn. All of the coaches are top tier and they all bring their own personalities to the experience. I cannot say enough good things about this gym. If you’re even considering trying this sport out, Do It Here. You will not regret it.
I recommend both the adult and kids’ program at 10th Planet Colorado Springs. My son, who is 8 years old, and I both trained there this summer. It is a family friendly environment and the coaches and teammates welcomed me openly. The training is serious and the adult program would be very effective for someone interested in competition or self-defense in my opinion.
