Likewater Jiu-Jitsu School is a phenomenal, high-class jiu-jitsu academy with true professionals coaches Mauricio in the field. The instructors not only have deep technical knowledge but also understand the psychology and culture of this sport, which has been evolving for many years. They are true representatives of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Los Angeles. Huge thanks for an incredible training session—it was an amazing experience! I also appreciate the opportunity to immerse myself in the culture of jiu-jitsu. Now, I’m proud to say that I’ve joined Likewater as a member!
Like Water Jiu-Jitsu is an incredibly fun gym where you jump straight into learning practical Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu self-defense. Most of the class focuses on rolling and drills that actually improve your positional skills, skipping the fluff. The format is pretty standard: technique demonstration, drilling with a partner, and finishing with rolling to test your skills. What really sets this place apart is the welcoming atmosphere. The blue and purple belts are super helpful and eager to share their knowledge, making it easy to learn quickly. Everyone's genuinely nice, and it’s a great place to train and grow in the sport. ** For beginners: From my experience, If you're new and worried about someone being too rough, you don’t have to be. People here are incredibly understanding and willing to adjust to your pace. As a beginner, I felt supported right away, and everyone was kind and patient in helping me learn.
I highly recommend it to anyone interested in Jiu-Jitsu! I recently joined this Jiu-Jitsu class, and I can't say enough good things about it. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Mauricio is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about teaching, ensuring that every student, regardless of experience level, feels supported and challenged. The classes are well-structured, with a perfect balance between technique, and sparring. I’ve noticed significant improvements in my skills and confidence in a short period of time. Everyone is friendly, and there's a strong emphasis on mutual respect and helping each other grow.
I’ve been doing martial arts since I was a kid. This is easily my favorite gym! First off, you’re learning from a world class BJJ competitor. So you know you’re getting excellent instruction. I’ve rolled at a few gyms now, this is by far the cleanest. Does an excellent job keeping the mats clean daily. Thirdly, it’s also a really safe environment for children and women. Mauricio is really patient with new comers, and makes them feel welcome when they first step on the mats. Which I really appreciate, because it makes the experience better overall if everyone feels comfortable. Highly recommend!!
Like Water Jiu Jitsu is honestly the best thing that’s happened to my son. When Willie first started, he was super shy and not really into group stuff. Now he’s made so many friends, and I’ve seen a huge change in his confidence. He’s learning discipline, focus, and how to be part of a team, and he actually loves going. The coaches are amazing. They’re so kind and patient with the kids, but still know how to keep structure and teach them real skills. You can tell they really care. And the price? It’s seriously so affordable, it feels like a steal. I’m just really grateful we found this place. If you’re thinking about trying it JUST DO IT! 🥰 It’s made such a difference for us.
Good vibe. Happy vibe all the time. Classes are fun. Master Mauricio is a very skilled teacher with a warm heart. My child enjoyed and loved the class and respected his teacher.
