First off, Cobrinha is a x3 ADCC champion and his son professor kennedy won ADCC in 2019 after starting jiu jitsu in 2012. a couple more of his blackbelts have won worlds gi and no gi many years in a row as well so if that doesnt tell you the level of instruction that this school teaches in gi/no-gi, then Idk what will. For unlimited all classes you will need to pay around 320 a month which to me is worth every penny when you train under a x3 ADCC champ who is arguably the best. The fundamentals 2 class is my favorite, for two stripe white belt and above. good mixture of higher belts, 5-7 minute sparring rounds, good instruction and just a good amount of sweat. Some days there’s positional sparring with instruction, other days, its regular rounds of rolling for the whole class or both! sunday open mats are sometimes open mats and other times regular instruction with around an hour of rolling. Absolute honor to train at Cobrinha. To say it's been a life changing journey over the past few months would be an understatement. The entire staff is kind, friendly & helpful. The training environment is second to none. Mr. Cobrinha, Fabio & Kennedy are world class instructors & competitors. Their instructions are explained & demonstrated in detail & questions are welcomed. They literally remember each students name & welcome each one of us to class each day. Mr. Cobrinha & Fabio have created a training environment based off kindness, respect, hard work & world class instruction. I sincerely consider myself lucky to train with such world class athletes & instructers, but even luckier to taught the art by such great people.
This place is more expensive than most bjj schools I’ve trained at in the last 13 years. $60 for a drop in class ( incl gì and rash ) and would have been an additional 40 for a second class on the same day. However, the quality of instruction is absolutely second to none. The fundamentals class had 34 students with four instructors in addition to Cobrinha himself which is a first. Emphasis was placed on wonderful details the atmosphere was friendly but there was real intention and all the higher belts generous with their time and knowledge. Jiu jitsu at its very best. Bravo.
"Character is how you treat someone who can do nothing for you." Not only can you level up your jiu jitsu game at Cobrinha's gym, you can level up your character. Humility, sportsmanship, and a shared resolve to improve one's self endure 365 days a year here. Cobrinha is hyper-focused and positively motivated to teach the next generation the art and the sport of jiu jitsu. Each and every person to walk through the door is treated with the same respect. In my opinion, it is the best place you could bring your son or daughter to learn. Through ups and downs, Cobrinha and his son Kennedy (along with all of the talented instructors) remain consistent, professional, helpful, humble - and yes, comedic too. They're all great examples of quality human beings, and all of them should be proud of what they are helping Cobrinha build. I will end this review with an idea that Professor Kennedy expressed to me, and something another jiu jitsu legend
Amazing atmosphere to train in. Surely the best in Medellin! Highly recommend this room for anyone at any level to attend. Whether youre new to the game or are rolling competitively, this room is packed with respectful practitioners and competitors willing to give a hand or exchange tough rolls. At the time of visiting the gym, I was very excited to learn the particular techniques being shown at Cobrinha's academy. Surprisingly the friendly gesture at the front desk had me smiling on the way up to the mats, where was welcomed by their head instructor Yiyo Moussa and soon found out the level of jiu-jitsu being taught here was nothing short of special. Professor Moussa has a deep understanding for the art and was very helpful with all of us throughout the technique session of the training session. Very appreciative of the opportunity to come back, Hope whomever is reading this gets a chance to head out there and roll! OSU!
We had a great experience visiting Cobrinha Jiu Jitsu Academy. There was fantastic technical instruction from Cobrinha (a true legend of jiu jitsu) in all of the sessions we attended, as well as a friendly and welcoming environment with great training partners. Cobrinha himself stayed behind after class to answer technical questions from everyone, including the visitors, which we really appreciated. I would highly recommend this academy to anyone looking for a high quality training environment.
