My nephews were enrolled at Golden State BJJ in Torrance, and I must say, I'm impressed by how the professors instilled confidence, courage, and respect in them. From their very first class, the professors made it clear that BJJ is not just about learning self-defense techniques, but also about building character and confidence. They were patient with my nephews, taking the time to explain each move and correcting their mistakes with encouraging words. One thing that really stood out to me was how the professors emphasized the importance of respect. They taught my nephews to bow before entering and leaving the mat, to show respect to their opponents, and to always listen to their teachers. This instilled a sense of discipline and respect in my nephews that has carried over to other areas of their lives. As my nephews progressed through the classes, they became more confident in their abilities. They learned to trust themselves and their
Golden State BJJ is a phenomenal place to start and take part in your jiu jitsu journey. The instructors are top notch, with great detail, care and are extremely friendly. For all of you parents out there GSBJJ is a great place to get your kids started in jiu jitsu. Their kids program is second to none.
Dane and Mike are awesome. They are good people, are good at BJJ, and know how to teach. The atmosphere at Golden State is perfect for BJJ. Hard training is encouraged and technicality is emphasized. This helps you get better at BJJ while avoiding injury (as much as possible). I've trained at a lot of academies all over the US and world, and, even with all of the selection of BJJ in LA, I drive out of my way to train with Dane and Mike at Golden State.
I dropped in on their Tuesday NoGi class. I’m visiting family in the area and wanted a place to train while I’m in town. They were very quick to respond to my emails and very friendly and helpful in their responses. Mike gave a very thorough instructional portion even taking the time to answer individual questions. I learned some good details on a move I’ve struggled with in the past. When it came to rolling, everyone was amazing. A lot of skill in those mats without any ego issues. Great place to train all around.
This is an amazing gym in the South Bay. All instructors are knowledgeable and high-level athletes. The facility is new and well taken care of. The training atmosphere was welcoming and friendly. There were no egos at this gym and everyone was respectful and helpful during training. The pricing is extremely good and the overall value you get here is unmatched. Love training here Highly recommended.
Been training 4 years and this was the easiest drop in I've ever done. Instruction was great, mats were nice and clean, everyone was friendly. In my experience drop in students can be left alone, but the instructor took the time to learn our names and give us the class structure. Will definitely come back when we're around LA again.
