The Beverly Hills Jiu Jitsu Club is a hidden gem in a city that’s highly saturated with jiu jitsu gyms. The head instructor, Marcus, has decades of experience and a detail-oriented approach to teaching. He is dedicated to his students’ improvement and always gives 100% on the mat. Unlike other gyms that have lower belts teach classes, Marcus never misses a day. If you want to start training jiu jitsu, this is the place to be as you will become well-rounded in both stand-up and ground fighting. Unlike other gyms that teach overly complicated techniques to beginners, Marcus starts with fundamentals. Additionally, instead of learning a new technique every day (as most gyms do), Marcus teaches a “technique of the week” that is built upon throughout the week incorporating counter-attacks, defenses, and other options. Every class is optimized for the skill level of students. Marcus breaks the class up and varies the complexity of what he teac
I started training at the BH Jiu Jitsu Club a few months ago and it’s been an amazing experience. I’ve always wanted to train jiu jitsu but just never found the right place to do it. Thankfully my friend and I found the BHJJC. Before I started training here, I went to a couple different gyms, but none of them were as welcoming as Marcus’ BHJJC. Good reviews attracted me to the gym, but the ambiance, cleanliness, and Marcus’ passion for the sport are what made me stayed. Everybody I’ve met at BHJJC has been respectful. The classes start and end formally and we always bow to each other prior to sparring. At the end of class, we shake hands with everyone. I’m glad to be learning from one of the best and most experienced instructors in the city.
I recently had the chance to visit BHJJC while coming down from San Francisco, and I must say, the experience was unparalleled. After researching various nearby gyms, I found BHJJC to be the best fit for my needs, as they offered the most classes, sometimes even twice a day. Some of their classes are tailored for beginners, some only for higher belts, and others are for all levels which made each class feel different thanks to the variety. The head coach, Marcus, who holds the impressive rank of a Coral belt (7th degree black belt), provided world-class instruction that focused on intricate details and control. I was equally thrilled with the classes led by a Russian coach named Sasha, whose sense of humor made learning new techniques memorable. What stood out to me was the affordability of the daily rate and the convenient option of gi rental. I managed to attend 5 classes and wish I had stayed longer so I could train more. The fellow
My first foray into grappling arts as a martial artist started here, and I absolutely love it! From a quality perspective, the sessions are run like a class rather than a gym; formal instruction with strong focus on merit based advancement. Clear weekly curriculum that is separated by level (Beginner/Intermediate, Advanced) with a very big focus on foundational techniques to help bring all of the many jiu-jitsu puzzle pieces together. Small classes allow for close, personal instruction. Also, the kids/teens classes are run smoothly with SAFETY being the top priority. Kids/teens classes aren't just about learning techniques, but how to treat others respectfully regardless of their background. Professor Marcus hardly ever misses a class (he runs all of them personally), and is dedicated to his students and community to being the very best version of themselves. His degree in Physical Education gives parents a sense of relief, safety, and
This is the best place to train! Top-level instruction from an experienced 6th degree jiu jitsu black belt and judo black belt. Unlike other jiu jitsu schools, you'll be learning a lot of judo and takedowns here. As a hobbyist practitioner, I have been intimidated by other jiu jitsu schools, but the environment at the Beverly Hills Jiu Jitsu club is immediately welcoming and friendly. Joining as a new member, I was treated like I’ve been part of the family for years. I got a uniform with my membership and an awesome gi bag too. Highly recommend!
I've been to a few jiu jitsu gyms around town and the Beverly Hills Jiu Jitsu Club is the best I’ve been to. I've learned to love jiujitsu here. Marcus is extremely dedicated to the improvement of his students. Everyone is friendly and are really great training partners. The membership price is extremely affordable compared to other places and the level of instruction is unmatched. I’m happy I was able to settle on this gym. It’s a great place for growth. They also have amazing kids classes and my older girl goes there too.
