Gracie Barra La Cañada Flintridge is hands down one of the best places for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, especially for kids! The kids program is amazing — the coaches and professors know exactly how to connect with the kids while teaching them solid fundamentals, discipline, and confidence in a super fun and energetic environment. The vibe at the school is always high energy and welcoming, which makes every class something to look forward to. And for the adults — the instruction is absolutely top notch. We’re learning from competition-tested black belts who bring real-world experience and high-level techniques to every class. Whether you’re brand new or looking to refine your game, the quality of instruction here is on another level. I’ve been training at Gracie Barra La Cañada since I was a white belt, and after 10 years, I earned my black belt here last fall. This place has always felt like home to me—it’s safe, welcoming, and full of people who’ve become like family. As a woman in a mostly male gym, I’ve always felt respected and comfortable here. The environment is super supportive, and the culture really encourages connection, growth, and mutual respect. A lot of my closest friends are people I met on these mats. Professor Alec brings great energy and is clearly passionate about both the gym and his students. The instructors are awesome, and the class schedule has a good mix for all levels. Whether you’re just starting or have been training for years, you’ll always get solid training and fun rolls here. Gracie Barra La Cañada is more than just a place to train—it’s a community, and I’m really grateful to be part of it.
Enrolling my 3 year old son 5 year old daughter has been the best decision for our family. Prior to joining the La Cañada Flintridge Gracie Barra family my kids did the basic activities and were getting bored. They absolutely love going to their classes. The professors and coaches are all top notch in their instruction. The facility is clean and everyone, including the fellow patrons, feel like a big family community. I was so impressed with the instruction that I ended up enrolling for the beginners level course myself. I can’t recommend them enough so if you’re considering signing up, whether for yourself or your kids, I urge you to stop in and check it out for yourself.
Best in class professor and coaches. They offer different kids classes that allow your kids to learn at their own pace. The community of parents, kids, and coaches/professors is also top notch where everybody is welcoming and super friendly. Professor Alec and Arlene came up through the Little Champs program and understand how to develop these kids to be champions in both BJJ and life.
Gracie Barra La Cañada Flintridge is run by incredible Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu professors with the goal of developing both high-level athletes and good people. The owner and head instructor, Professor Alec, is a highly skilled, motivating, caring, and technical teacher who has fulfilled the mission of creating great young men and women who are not only strong martial artists but also high-level competitors. I started training at Gracie Barra La Cañada Flintridge about 2 months ago in the pursuit of competing and it has been nothing short of fantastic. I have been incredibly grateful to learn from Professor Alec, Professor Cam, Professor Kenny, Coach Pedro, & many more. If you want to learn from great Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu professors and coaches and are in the LC area, GBLCF is 100% worth stopping by.
