About 20 years with BTT Long Beach and I still love this place. I learned just about everything I know about Jiu Jitsu from Marcelo Perdomo. 3 years ago Alex Vieira was brought in to run the team, and it's been awesome to learn "modern" techniques from him. This place is not just a "gym" but a "team".... a "family". I moved away from Long Beach, and drive a significant distance to keep training (and coaching) at BTT Long Beach. There are schools close to where I now live, but I know it's never going to be the same as being a part of this legendary team. For those who are on the fence about training, come by, give it a whirl, you have nothing to loose and a new "family" to gain.
The mentorship and training here is World Class. I have had the pleasure of training with Coach Marcelo, and he is very experienced and knowledgeable in his craft. He is a tough guy but very friendy and fun to be around! The people that I train with here are amazing as well, as they are very knowledge in Brazillian Jiu Jitsu, as well as Boxing, Muay Thai, Wrestling and other martial arts. I love the vibes here, there is always something new to learn from your teammates and they always push you to be better and are there for you too. You can't go wrong choosing this gym!
I joined BTT in February of 2023 as I had been fascinated with the art of Brazilian Jiujitsu for a while so I figured it was finally time to give it a try and I am glad I went with BTT Long Beach. The sign up process was effortless, I took a free trial class and was immediately hooked after one class. The coaches at the academy are legendary practitioners and extremely professionals, the teammates are also great individuals and always willing to share their knowledge when needed. For anyone wanting to learn the martial arts of BJJ, MMA, etc. This is truly the best place to go for those of you in the area.
For the past two years, I have had two of my kids enrolled in the kids program class offered at the Brazilian Top Team in Long Beach. The senior coach, Marcelo Perdomo, is a very knowledgeable teacher who really cares for the individual growth of each student--he truly challenges each student to do their very best AND to achieve the most they can. My two kids have already competed in a few tournaments and brought a couple of medals home. My wife and I are very happy with our kids overall progress: physically, mentally, and character development. If I could, I would give these guys double digit stars for the awesome work they are doing. God bless!!!
I've been going to BTT for over a decade and the coaching/training here has aged like fine wine. If you're anywhere remotely close to LB, come check us out. Our coach Alex Vieira is one of the most accomplished Jiu Jitsu competitors of the last decade. We have more trophies than MJ, Kobe & LeBron combined (IBJJF) and we aren't just a gym, we're family. No where else are you going to get over a 150+ training partners of all shapes and sizes and experience. Highly recommend.
BTT Jiu-Jitsu is an amazing academy with a supportive and motivating atmosphere. The coaches are knowledgeable, patient, and truly invested in helping every student improve, whether beginner or advanced. Training here pushes you to grow both physically and mentally, while being surrounded by teammates who feel like family. Highly recommended for anyone looking to level up their Jiu-Jitsu.
