If I could give thus business more stars I would! I sought out karate about five months ago to help my son manage his anger and focus his energy, while working through a terrible divorce. It has done that and more! It has taught my son a great sense of discipline, confidence and perseverance. It allows him to work out some energy and really challenge himself- both physically and mentally.Mr. Matt (the instructor) And his wife Mrs. Kaci are very caring, positive and amazing people! From our first session, it was clear that Mr. Matt loves teaching karate! I took my son to another school for a session prior and the instructors basically talk to the kids like adults and seemed very disinterested. Not here- Mr. Matt does an excellent job getting on the level of the children, while also demanding that they respect him and the traditions of the dojo! One of my sons friends from school also does karate with him and they are so excited to tell t
Amazing instructor, overall great place to learn and be! My son has transformed in the time he has spent under the instruction and guidance of Mr Matt! He went from a quiet, shy, unsure teen to a confident, encouraged, eager young man. And as a mother I am so grateful we found Mr Matt who knew exactly what my son needed in his instruction to pull him out of his shell. American Martial Arts Vancouver is a welcoming place and as a parent and not a student even I feel like I belong to the family atmosphere there. My child is and will continue to grow with Mr Matt as his instructor. He looks forward to every lesson! Thank you!
Coming from a long history of Martial Arts involvement I was extremely selective about where to take my 4 year old daughter to begin her training. After an exaustive search and doing extensive research on both this system and American Martial Arts Vancouver in particular. I entrusted my little one's development and well being to Mr. Matt. He has an uncanny talent to relate to and inspire both children and adults. I have never had a single regret and now my entire family including myself train there. I can't thank Master Pearl and Mr. Matt enough for bringing this fantastic system of training to my family's lives.
Review might be a bit long, but I do want to make sure you the reader, are informed. Thank me later :) We’ve had our son here for close to a year now. The current structure for littles (less than 7 years old) is two group classes and one personal lesson with the dojo head, Master Matt. I can’t understate how phenomenal these lessons and interactions have been for our son. He had previously experienced some gross motor delays, and some range of motion mobility issues from a car accident last year. *All* of those issues are now gone. His flexibility is where it should be for his young age. His body coordination is on par, if not above, where it should be for his age. And his confidence and willingness to communicate and push himself, is indescribably different from where he started. Even for myself, I was a student for a few months as a form of exercise, and still implement the learned movements, stretches, and mindset in my personal life
If you’re considering martial arts, you don’t need to look any further than American Martial Arts. Matt is not only an amazing instructor, but he is also one of the most genuine and caring person I’ve had the pleasure of knowing. His ability to connect with students of all ages and background is uncanny. His dedication to the craft and his students is unparalleled. We started out with our son, but now my entire family including my daughter, wife, and myself train with Matt. We feel very fortunate to have found American Martial Arts. They are now a part of our extended family.
I've had my son enrolled with Matt for more than 3 years now and I feel now is a time to leave a review. Solid. USSD Vancouver is a place of practice and Matt is an excellent guide in whom I have immense trust. Family is important and a central value here. Matt is a Marine and has the sense of discipline to drive his honor. A value most needed today. Never did I ever think that Matt had nothing less than the best interest of my children at heart. Don't sleep on this place. A great addition to our community.
