We have been attending East West Martial Arts since my younger son was in preschool. We now have two boys in their programs, a 9 year old and a 7 year old. As an adult, I also take Krav Maga classes from East West Martial Arts, and we benefit from our whole family participating. We love the curriculum at East West. The kids are taught a balance of forms and kick/punch techniques, sparring techniques, ground work, and practical self defenses (e.g. what to do if a stranger grabs your shirt in the mall). As the kids get older, they also have a chance to learn simple weapons techniques like nun-chucks and bo staff, which they love. Instructors take time each class to review principles any parent wants their kid to know, like integrity, perseverance, self discipline, and good nutrition. They stress the importance of doing well in school and respect for parents and teachers. It is great for kids to hear about these things from someone other t
Love that my son is leaning and gaining confidence in Martial Arts. It is so nice the class time is short enough for my 3yr old's short attention span. The instructors are patient and flexible and really work with each child's needs. makes me very proud to see my son following directions and gaining independence. Also to those who are concerned about the price... Well it comes with being a parent. Any sport cost money and Karate, and Martial arts is an ongoing investment. You should plan on spending monthly tuition, testing and belt fees, uniforms and other equipment as your child advances and if you plan to do tournaments their will be fees for that as well... just like any sport- baseball, basketball, football--- they all have fees. Also I've found that many schools do not have proper facilities or instructors to teach young children so they typically start classes at age 5... for me paying more means beter instructors for my child. My son started at East West Martial Arts about 2 1/2 years ago, and from the first day it has been an incredibly positive, educational, and healthy experience. Not only does EWMA foster positive martial arts training, they promote physical, emotional, academic, and ethical well being in children and adults. They use the martial arts program as a basis for a broader program of citizenship, personal achievement, team support, and growth. That being said, the skills in martial arts that they teach the kids are amazing. The transformation from a novice to a child who is very capable in many aspect of the sport as well as the self defensive techniques is incredibly rapid, and evidence of the effectiveness of their teachers. I have never seen a child spoken to harshly, made to feel anything less than self confident, and have always seen the instructors as positive and trustworthy role models. After looking into other schools and programs, and
I have been training at East West Martial Arts for a year now in the adult Krav Maga program. From the moment I stepped in through the doors, I felt embraced into a family. I had just recently moved from out of state and this environment was how I first got involved in my new community and I couldn't have been shown a more welcoming, healthy, positive place! I have grown so much in my training and am continually being challenged week after week. The instructors are not only extremely knowledgeable but are also heart felt and care about the progress each individual is making. I feel confident in the program they're teaching and have seen a huge improvement in my skill.
SO IMPRESSED! A good friend referred me to East West Martial arts. He spoke very highly of the instructors and has had his high school son enrolled since kindergarten. My 3 children (2 boys, 1 girl) have been going now for almost 2 years and I have to say it's the best thing I've done for them. EVERY single instructor is professional, knowledgeable, kind and know how to engage with children of all ages and personalities. I can't say enough about this place. I honestly could name every instructor and program director here as amazing, but I have to give a huge shout out to Mr. Mike. Mr. Mike pays very close attention to the children in his class, takes extra time to help them learn a form they are struggling with, gives them recognition for doing well, shares words of encouragement and shows a genuine interest in helping his class have confidence and respect for themselves. I highly recommend you give this place a shot, they usually have
East West Martial Arts is a great environment there is so many friendly people at this school. I get high fives and hellos as soon as I walk right through the door. There is always fun events that is kids are invited to almost every month. The best part is that the classes are always challenging the higher belt you grow to. I personally recommended training with the East West team they push your personal limit and help you to achieve your goals. The instructors try their best to get to know each individual student as well as staying after class to help out anyone that needs it.
