I have been part of the Gracie Barra organization for more than 10 years, on and off, and my wife 3 years, both having had the pleasure of training at various Gracie Barra schools in and around Vancouver during our respective timelines, including the Vancouver Main St. location. This location was my first Gracie Barra school and experience as a white belt student training under then owner/Professor, Rodrigo. When entering, there is an impressive wall acknowledging all the students who have been awarded and earned their black belts. The main St. location is large with two separate mat training areas and the school facilitates both BJJ and Muay Thai classes for beginner and advanced students. I believe they also offer female classes. The facility provides a safe, clean, and the typical Gracie Barra family-like environment for both adults and children. The children’s curriculum is exceptional and a leader among the Gracie schools in my opi
I've been training at Gracie Barra Vancouver for a little over half a year now and honestly i have to say that it's like my home far away from home. What I like the most is the patient, challenging and at the same time inviting atmosphere it has. A place where you can find the beginner guy (like me) or a tough advanced competitor living in perfect harmony, without egos, learning and growing through the path of a beautiful respectful martial art. The instructors are really friendly and always answering questions or going into further details. You have a lot of time, that's ok they have a schedule for you, very few time, no worries they would have a schedule for you. The schedule is as broad as you can imagine. Which is great for you to integrate it with your daily life. I am very proud to be part of the Gracie Barra Vancouver family and to represent it everywhere life takes me. To all the staff and professors over there i would like to th
Gracie Barra Vancouver is one of the best Brazilian jiu-jitsu school in the Lower Mainland. My son has been attending GB Vancouver for almost 3 years now and he's essentially apart of the GB Vancouver family. He loves the instructors, support staff and the classes. During the school year, he partakes in the after-school program and it's amazing. The team picks him up from school and takes him to the gym. He practices BJJ for an hour and they take him to my home. During the BJJ session, I would receive multiple updates (messages, photos and videos) through an app, Brightwheel, so I know exactly what he's up to. Aside from the after-school program, he attends 2-3x a week for additional practices. With his abundance of energy, GB Vancouver helps him focus and direct it so he's controlled, patient and disciplined. I am glad to have found Gracie Barra Vancouver and we will continue to attend the gym for the foreseeable future. If you're inte
My daughter has been enroll since Nov 2017 and she's loving each class she attends. The instructor's Anthony, Leo, Pauline, Alfredo does a amazing job of teaching them how to listen, be discipline, focus and best of yet make each class fun for them to keep on coming back. Very family oriented feel and i would recommend any friends or family members to join the Gracie Barra family and try it out. There's not one time she comes home and say she doesn't like it. Keep up the great work and dedication that each instructor puts in with each children in their classes!
Both my kids and I come and train here and we have had a great experience from the start. The staff is always friendly and we have been welcome like family and made some great friends here. I’ve seen them both gain confidence in their training and I feel empowered each time I come to train. Would recommend anyone looking to train Jiu jitsu or looking for a program for their kids to come here.
This is by far the best gym I've ever trained at! The instructors and management are amazing and make everyone feel completely at home. There are a TON of classes available and people of all shapes, sizes, ages, and experience levels training there allowing everyone to feel comfortable. The BJJ is the focal point of my experience here, but training kickboxing and having group workout classes with Dab has been a HUGE bonus! Is recommend training here to anyone interested!
