I have been training under Erick Hemphill at Nemesis Jiu Jitsu since 2010, and I can confidently say that Erick is a world-class practitioner whose reputation is well-known in the Jiu Jitsu community. His focus on practical Jiu Jitsu that applies not just on the mats but also in real-world situations truly sets him apart. I’m thrilled about the opening of the new location in Yacolt, WA. Despite the travel time of an hour and twenty minutes from my place, the quality of instruction I receive from Erick makes every minute worth it. Whether you’re considering a program for yourself or for your child, Nemesis Jiu Jitsu offers an unmatched level of training that fosters real skills and discipline in a supportive environment. I have had the pleasure of training in various gyms/academies with a variety of practitioners, ranging from the guy who just wants to learn self defense to UFC fighters. I came to Nemesis for the first time about a year ago and instantly felt comfortable at Nemesis. Everyone introduced themselves and were very welcoming to new additions. More importantly, I would like stress how amazed I was with Eric Hemphill. His knowledge of Jiu Jitsu and small intricacies were nothing but spectacular. His ability to explain a particular movement was a light bulb flashing above my head. I will continue to train here and be a student of Eric Hemphill and the Nemesis way. I highly recommend Nemesis Jiu Jitsu, and I recommend learning from Eric Hemphill even more!!! Eric, thank you for allowing me to train with you and Nemesis, I look forward to learning much more.
Eric Hemphill is a standout. He moves brilliantly on the mats and embraces old-school Jiu-Jitsu as much as he embraces new-school Jiu-Jitsu. The place is clean and all of the people who train here are very respectful and concientious. A great place for a beginner or a veteran.
Fantastic gym. A lot of very experienced grapplers and a few newbs like me. The crew here couldn't have been more welcoming. I'm hooked. Eric is on another level and all the other coaches are great too. Monday and Friday evenings are the best for beginners. Check out Stewart's fundamentals class at 5:30.
Eric and the group at Nemesis were some of the best people I’ve ever trained with over the years. Eric is world class and amazingly efficient. The teaching style is such that what you learn is readily accessible and changes/improves your game within a short period of time. I’d highly recommend them for training, certainly worth a visit if you’re coming through town.
Been taking my grandson here for about 6 months now and I am very pleased with this gym. The proprietors are a married couple and the primary coaches with two little ones of their own running around. Very family friendly with a "safe place" atmosphere that I greatly appreciate.
