I had been looking for a martial arts school since I moved to Vancouver, WA from CA. I've trained in martial arts prior and knew the type of school I wanted to be a part of. I visited a few jiu jitsu schools both in Portland and Vancouver, but struggled in finding the right school and instructor. I wanted a school where the instructor is knowledgeable, skilled, patient, humble, respectful and effectively communicates techniques. Justin Bendsneyder exemplifies all these characteristics. He is an excellent instructor that truly cares about his students and teaching them proper jiu jitsu skills and techniques. Equally important for me was the overall vibe of the school and the students training there. I wanted to train hard, but didn't want to join a place that had a "bro" mentality with people that have a chip on their shoulder. This isn't the case at Inertia - everyone was nice, friendly, and there to learn with no attitudes. It is a wel
Inertia Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the keystone you have been missing. Coach Justin Bendsneyder passes along his love and deep black belt knowledge of the art through passion and patience. I was turned onto Inertia and Coach Justin by my longtime friend and now teammate. After the first free class there was no other option. Coach Justin wasted no time in making me feel right at home and putting us to work. Every class he makes you want to venture deeper down the rabbit hole! All questions get answered and each technique meticulously demonstrated. You need a new passion, this is the spot. You want to get in killer shape, this is the spot. Self defense, stress relief, better knowledge of body mechanics, this is it. Lots of class options including one on one's, easy pricing, and just the right amount of laid back environment to let you fall in love with Jiu Jitsu. Coach Justin is the man and Inertia Academy is the spot. Plus let's face it... W
I've trained on and off since 2005 and imo had the best help around in terms of my bjj development. Justin Bendsnyder is not only a great coach, but a personal friend. I walked in to his academy at 256lbs. He helped me prioritize my training by 1st dealing with weight, my schedule and his method of addressing my weaknesses and strengths so that we could grow. Recently he has helped with my shoulder issues, his 'strongfirst' approach seams to be working really well with my range of motion. I'm also noticing new found strength in what were weak areas. I now weigh 205lbs after almost one year. I honestly can't say enough- Im grateful. Another thing that amazes me is his coach/student attention, how he welcomes a challenge when it comes to teaching different individuals, his ability to find a way to get bjj in an individuals body, and how protective he is of his students. If you're new or thinking about learning bjj- you are safe here. If y
I joined Inertia almost a year ago and have nothing but great things to say about Justin and the gym he’s created. I came to Inertia with previous jiu jitsu experience and Justin is one of the best instructors I have had. He is able to break down techniques in a way that is beneficial for both beginner and advanced students while keeping a strong focus on fundamentals. The gym has a great vibe and I’ve found everyone friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend checking it out!
I live in northern California and have been training for over 3 years. I visit family in Vancouver often and wanted a place to train when I am in town. I stopped by on a Friday evening and found a very welcoming, very humble bunch of folks. They have a very different training approach from my home gym and I found it very refreshing.
Awesome place to learn and train jiu jitsu at all levels! Justin's ability to break down techniques into simple but detailed steps has been crucial in helping my understanding of jiu jitsu concepts. His teaching emphasizes proper body mechanics with each movement to avoid injuries and maximize the effectiveness of each technique.
