While visiting Montgomery from out of state to see extended family, I reached out to this gym and was warmly welcomed to join a class. From the moment I stepped in, it was evident that this is a gym for serious martial artists. The instructors' technical prowess and dedication were unmistakable, setting the tone for a training environment geared towards competitive excellence. As someone who frequently drops in at gyms while traveling, I can confidently say that this is one of the most serious I've encountered. The students are not only friendly but also highly competitive, possessing impressive technical skills and athleticism. Unlike some gyms focused on casual training, this is a place for martial artists truly dedicated to mastering Jiu-Jitsu. Team Rivas is an exceptional gym to learn the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and consists of an amazing team of coaches with a variety of grappling backgrounds for both adults and kids. The facility is clean, open, and provides an efficient area to train. Training here is a great workout as BJJ is a full contact combat art. Coach Daniel is not only a great jujitsu coach but a life coach as well. His discipline procedures and structure have really proven to be successful as my son has drastically improved in his behavior and manner of respecting others. Team Rivas is part of our family. The team is always working together and supporting one another in Juijitsu and everyday life. My son has gained much knowledge and experience the past few years that will stick with him a lifetime. I feel lucky to have found Team Rivas and am extremely proud to see Daniel making such a positive impact on my son's life.
Team Rivas was my gym for 3 years and 10 months. It is simply the best training I’ve ever had. It set the standard for what I expected from my new gym. I sadly had to leave because I moved. I would ask Professor tons of questions after class. Not one time in those almost 4 years did he ever tell me to stop. The other Professors (black belts) were just as knowledgeable. They answered all of my questions about techniques and never got tired or told me to stop asking questions. If you want to do Jiu-Jitsu I highly recommend this gym. Professor Daniel Rivas runs a phenomenal gym.
