I’ve trained and competed for multiple different bjj gyms over the last few years, and I was very impressed with the Gracie Barra bcs locations (trained back and forth at the Bryan/South College locations for around 6 months). Top notch facilities, the instructors are very involved, friendly, and make sure you don’t feel overlooked even in big classes. A very positive, safe, and friendly training environment has also been cultivated here. I’d heard a lot of negative stuff on the internet about GB gyms, and so I honestly wasn’t expecting much when I first walked in the doors, but was proved very wrong. When I move back to BCS area, I will definitely train here. - Blake Cox
Five stars! I walked in a total newbie, never practiced any form of martial arts. From the coaches to the members, everyone there wrapped me in this amazing sense of community. The coaches are more than just instructors - they're passionate teachers who genuinely care about helping you improve. It's been a month since I started, and I already feel there's this incredible sense of support, no matter your age or experience level. You'll find young kids eager to learn alongside seasoned adults, all pushing each other to be better. Everyone offers a helping hand, advice, and tons of encouragement. If you're looking for a welcoming gym with top-notch instruction and a supportive community, look no further! You won't regret it!
Visited from Canada with my 7 yr old daughter. Her and I both participated in a class. The coaches were so amazing with my girl. She suddenly felt overwhelmed stepping on the mats with none of her friends and Luandra and Amanda made her feel welcome. Before I knew it she was with the rest of the kids. She skipped out of shark tank and sat with Amanda and later my girl said she wished she participated in that as well. They put no pressure on her and made her feel welcome. It was amazing to see. We would happily come back. Adult class for me great, instructors were good, culture was great. They paired me with some absolute gems for my class and I had a great time. Wish I could have dedicated more time during my stay in Texas. Hopefully next year.
I highly recommend checking with Gracie Barra for training with jujitsu. They have an excellent/knowledgeable staff that are always helpful and produce a very safe/effective learning environment. My kids have a lot of fun in class and really enjoy working with the coaches. There are two locations in the area with classes with staggering times so that's very helpful with complex schedules.
While our attendance here so far has been brief, the folks at Gracie Barra Bryan are super friendly and welcoming. The instructors are kind and very patient with students, offering positive feedback and acknowledgement. The gym facility is new, nice and kept up very well, with two mat areas, a viewing area, a play room to entertain kids, and the changing areas are spacious. If you are looking for a facility to train at in B/CS, definitely look into Gracie Barra!
Best place to learn to roll/self defense. First lesson is free. The class is a small cardio/stretching circuit then immediately jumping to Brazilian Jujitsu (BJJ). I like it a lot. It is real self defense skills while still being soft and respectful. Other flavors of self defense will leave you with broken fingers and black eyes. BJJ is the sweet spot for continued growth at your pace. It is the next step from wresting. Alexandre is a master at teaching his students the skills they need to work on. Can’t recommend this place enough! I’m there 2 times a week.
