Great place to train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu! I started coming to Stoic Jiu Jitsu about 2 years into my jiu jitsu journey and have been attending for the last 3 years. It’s a great community where everyone is very down to earth and welcoming to new members. STOIC Jiu Jitsu offers great instruction that has helped me significantly improve my jiu jitsu game and participate in local competitions. I’ve never felt anything but support from Marcus (Owner and Lead Instructor) who creates a very open and fun atmosphere to learn and ask questions. They are also consistently improving their training facility, classes and seminars in order to provide the best training experience for their members. I highly recommend that you join us!
I started at Stoic with my Blue Belt in BJJ. I asked a brown belt friend where to train where I could wear my own gear and get high quality training. He told me to try Stoic BJJ in Dripping Springs. I entered the gym, a warehouse type arrangement, and was pleased with the setup. The mat space was generous and the space was open and welcoming. My first roll I met some great players and found the instruction by Marcus to be extremely competent. When the live training started Marcus quickly assessed the numbers were odd and got right into the mix. This is unusual and a testament to the commitment to BJJ at this school. Usually, black belts will just ask an odd player to train with two others instead of rolling themselves. Not so at Stoic! I also noticed that there were several other black belts training with us. After 5 months of training there I can say that my initial impression still rings true. The people are friendly and kind. The gea
So stoked to find this academy to begin my Jiu Jitsu journey. As a female I have been searching for a place that is welcoming all new members no matter the status, skill level or if you are male or female. I was intimidated at first, but the owners Marcus and Laci made me so comfortable that I cannot wait to go back to practices. I love that they offer variety of classes, for females, for beginner gi, or foundational classes. All of them that I like to attend to work on skills as a white belt and yet roll with higher belts during those classes as well. Thank you guys for creating community around this and welcoming me to your Stoic family. Grace
Excellent jiu jitsu instruction, gym vibe, and amenities! The owners do a great job making Stoic a family friendly atmosphere and gym community. All of the students are willing to help, ensure there are no egos on the mat, and are totally welcoming of new people and beginners. It’s rare to find a jiu jitsu gym that seems have that perfect mix, but Stoic absolutely does!
I have trained many many many gyms . I also own a gym . This was my experience. Was greeted at the door given a tour of facilities. Which were absolutely amazing and the amenities were next level . Then the class was punctual and full of colored belts , this was a lunch class , and great instruction that included both concepts m techniques. Finished with some great training. I would recommend trying this as academy before any where else in the area 1st . I will be back! 1st degree black belt Lockhart jiujitsu / Bjj revolution team
Went in for a free class to check it out. I find most bjj places to be insular/cliquey and esoteric by design. That was NOT my experience here. Everyone was welcoming, super-chill, & didn’t make me feel weird when I didn’t understand the instruction/routine. I was also waaaaay out of shape; Marcus and everyone in class attendance were super patient and related their first classes went similar. Cool place, cool people: if you’re thinking about giving bjj a shot and have been intimidated or turned off before, I’d suggest giving Stoic by the fire station a shot before giving up.
