I just started training at Practice Jiu Jitsu in Georgetown, Texas but for almost four years now i have trained with GianCarlo and Rebecca. They both have also instructed my son. I can honestly say that Coach Rebecca and Coach Giancarlo Bodoni have created something special here. Their passion for jiu jitsu is obvious, but what stands out even more is how much they genuinely care about their students’ growth—on and off the mats. Rebecca brings an incredible level of detail and technical understanding to every class. She has a gift for breaking down complex movements in a way that makes them feel achievable, no matter your experience level. Her coaching has made a huge impact on my game. Giancarlo’s instruction is world-class. Training with someone at his level is an opportunity you don’t find often, and he still brings a humble, patient, and welcoming energy to every session. He pushes you to grow, but always in a supportive and encoura
I’ve been lucky enough to have Giancarlo and Rebecca as my coaches for the past few years. They are the best instructors you’ll find anywhere. The curriculum they put together and the training environment they have at the gym is world class. It’s a big family to anyone who walks through the doors. Kids, casuals and competitors. Everyone is welcome. I met some of my best friends in the gym. You get focused attention from all the coaches. And by Giancarlo Bodoni who is the reigning ADCC world champion. I’ve seen more progress with myself and all the other students than I have training anywhere else in the past. On and off the mats. If you’re looking to start or looking to improve yourself, come in and take some classes. You won’t find a better place anywhere.
I’ve trained under Giancarlo for several years now, and I couldn’t recommend him and the coaching staff at Practice Jiu Jitsu more. He has a rare ability to take jiu jitsu techniques at any level and teach them in a way that feels both advanced and totally understandable—whether you’re brand new or have been on the mats for years. What I appreciate most is that you’re never just learning a “move of the day.” You’re learning how to create the right conditions for a technique to actually work. There’s a real mental component to being taught this way, and it makes a huge difference in both your development and your enjoyment of each class. Practice JJ is all about true skill building and helping you learn to think more like a tactician every time you train. If you’re considering dropping in for a class, do it—you won’t regret it.
I’m a 21-year-old college student and I’d never done any martial arts before trying Practice Jiu-Jitsu. I play other sports so I’m not new to being athletic, but I had no idea what to expect walking in. I’m so glad I went. From the very first class, the instructors made me feel welcome and never made me feel stupid for not knowing anything. They broke everything down in a way that actually made sense, and they were patient when I needed to see something again. Nobody made me feel like I was slowing the class down or didn’t belong there. The upper belts were just as encouraging as the coaches, which says a lot about the culture of this place. What surprised me most is how quickly I started picking things up and actually feeling like I knew what I was doing. I wasn’t just going through the motions. Every class I walked out feeling more confident, not just on the mats but in general. If you’re on the fence, especially if you have zero expe
Honestly, this place is something special. Having Giancarlo Bodoni as a coach is worth its weight in gold. He’s two time ADCC champ, but at the same time he breaks things down in a way that makes everything click for all levels. You actually feel yourself getting better after his classes. He pays attention, fixes details, and makes the room feel super welcoming for everyone. The vibe is always great. Good people, clean gym, awesome energy. You can tell he really cares about building a solid team and not just running classes. If you have been thinking about starting Jiu Jitsu, or you are already training somewhere and want a higher level coach, this is 100% worth checking out. I’m genuinely blown away by how good the instruction is.
As Giancarlo’s brother, I’ve watched his passion for training and coaching grow and evolve for nearly two decades. Even with that bias acknowledged, I can confidently say you won’t find better mentorship, attention to detail, or more precise instruction than what he delivers on the mats. What makes his coaching stand out is the combination of high-level technical understanding and the ability to break things down in a way that actually sticks. Whether you’re brand new or highly experienced, he meets you exactly where you are to elevate your game with intention. If you’re looking for a place to train where the culture is professional, personable, welcoming, and focused on real skill development, Practice Jiu-Jitsu sets the bar.
