Alright alright, I can't take it anymore. My old review just doesn't show how much love I've got for these people. My old review said "Relaxed environment. Challenging and fun classes.". My NEW review goes like this. No matter who you are, how old you are, or what you are, you will feel at home here. Professor Lance, Coach Tim and Coach Evyn have your back through all the training milestones. They make sure that they work with as many people as possible in every class AND they stick around for questions afterward if they can. They truly care about your BJJ journey and want to do what they can to help you become a better person. They have helped me more than they know. Going to class is my first choice when I have time in my schedule. Y'all, train when you can and grow into a whole new person with new and old friends and become family. Much love to this place if I could I would give them more stars.🤟🏻
This is an awesome place to learn the gentle art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu! I started with Professor Dande years ago at his South Austin location. I’ve been off the mats for a while now, but was warmly welcomed back recently at this new location in Buda. Professor Lance is a great instructor and also a great example of how starting and sticking with BJJ can only benefit your life. I’m in my 40’s now and starting back up slowly, but there’s no age or time limit when it comes to the Jiu Jitsu journey! What I love about this place is that every time I step on the mats, I am taking part in a continuous learning experience that benefits both my physical and mental well-being. I highly encourage everyone to give it a shot!
What a Fantastic Place!! I just moved to the Buda area and I was looking for a new gym to call home; Professor Lance and Professor Max welcomed me with open arms to their state of the art Jiu-jitsu Academy. There is a lot of mat space, everyone is very welcoming and friendly. Ample parking out front, shower, changing room, water dispenser, high ceiling. This place is NICE!! Whether you are looking for a new hobby or jiu-jitsu is your life, Gracie Barra Buda is the place to be.
My son has been training here for about 10 months and it is one of the best things that has ever happened to him. He was being pushed around in middle school and was not confident enough to stand up for himself. EVERYTHING has changed for him now and he is a completely different kid. More friends, more outgoing, stronger, more respectful, more confidence, and the best of all, no more being picked on. He owes it all to the amazing professors, coaches, parents, and classmates at this location. I own them big time for helping my son. I would give them 10 stars if it would let me.
Gracie Barra Buda is just 20 mins away from my home and it’s well worth the visit. I attended a Muay Thai class after taking boxing classes for two years. It’s quite different but I loved being able to try the class and having the opportunity to do so. Once again, friendly and easy to work with professors. Clean school with a cool second story to watch people train.
Gracie Barra Buda is a hidden gem! The moment you walk through the doors, you feel the sense of community and respect that Professor Dande has cultivated. He has a gift for making everyone—from kids to adults—feel empowered and capable. The team atmosphere here is second to none, and every class is taught with intention, care, and expertise. You can tell that Professor Dande and his instructors are not just teaching techniques—they’re building confidence and character. Highly recommend!
