Family owned and operated. Great facility, even better instructors...my 8-year-old son loves coming here and had learned so much! The owners are kind and professional, they both teach kid classes, they are both excellent at communicating and instructing the kids in a way that keeps them engaged and making positive progress every class! Jillian and Sean Cooper are both high-level, high-skilled Jiujiteiros themselves. All of their support instructors are held to and meet the same standards the Cooper's have for themselves. It's like watching them train their own sons and daughters. We highly recommend this Jiu-jitsu academy, Cooper MMA, to anyone and everyone! All ages, kids to adults. This facility can accommodate Jiu-jitsu, Judo, and MMA competitors of all levels. Family owned by incredible people who make you feel like you're a part of their family, too! Highly recommend!
Amazing gym for adults, kids, beginners and pro competitors. Cooper MMA has something for everyone, with world class instructors for BJJ, Muay Thai and MMA. I have been training MMA for 7 years and wanted a place that was safe, fun but also legitimate to enroll my son and I. After trying one class, I enrolled my 6 year old in Kids BJJ/MMA and it has been an amazing experience. Coaches are super kid friendly, but also train actual positions/submissions and encourage technical skills instead of just being a daycare. Super safe, and clean environment.
I was here for 3 months. If you pay the full membership and get all the classes, this school is essentially a playground for martial arts students. They have judo, boxing, muay thai, and bjj. I attended this school for 3 months. Sean the owner, is amazing. All of the coaches are incredible and they have classes everyday. I don't have any complaints. I personally believe that this school is better for beginners. They do not have a fight team therefore there isn't the opportunity to expand in striking competitions nor BJJ competitions. They compete in BJJ comps once in a while but if you want to compete it's better to look for a school that has a fight team. I came from an experienced background so I personally believe that if you're starting off this is a great school. They also have GI bjj and no-gi which was a big deal for me. I highly recommend Cooper's.
Cooper MMA is a great place to train martial arts in Austin, Texas. They have the best instructors for Self-defense, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Boxing, Judo, and Wrestling. Sean Cooper is a very caring individual and focuses on using his gym to promote discipline, respect, and positivity into people's lives. I have been training here for 2 years and it is a friendly environment and great place for beginners and veterans alike. It has a great children and kids program, womens, and competitive fighters programs. Everybody is very helpful and you will learn a lot from all the great coaches. Cooper MMA is a awesome place if you want to compete, pick up martial arts for a hobby, learn self-defense or just get a good workout in and have fun!
My son started out at Cooper's after having an instance with bullying at school. Sean Cooper, and his team of great coaches, provided him with very practical tools to help defend himself. More importantly, training at the gym and the encouragement that he received from Sean and the coaches gave him back his self-confidence. Having others recognize his hard work and accomplishment was a turning point in his life. Who knew, that after one year of watching my son train that I would give it a go. After training for a handful of years, I love the sport and the gym is like extended family. Cooper MMA is a great place to train and learn. Family friendly and I could not recommend it more.
Trained at copper mma for 5 months, love the fundamentals taught by Professor Sean. I trained in other gyms for 7 years in Asia. The fundamentals I picked in this gym is so high level. They also have a great Judo class taught by a high level Judoka Sensei Mark. They also do some thing in their Nogi class using striking with jiujitsu to keep your BJJ honest in self defense context with coach Carter. Really love the self defense based jiujitsu. Love the safe gym culture they have.
