I found this location many years ago when it was under a different owner and leadership team. I made a lot of great friends, expanded my social network and continue to have great friends and connections although it has changed leadership now for the 3rd time. During my time here I saw some things occur that were super toxic and decided to step away from not only being a student there (my son was training with me) but I was also an upper belt coach. After I left there were two more leader ship changes with the third being Professor Eric. Although I own my own gym now, Eric is and was my Professor prior to him taking over ownership here. The coaches and leadership now in place here with bring stability, healthy growth and finally wipe away the smear of drama that previous leadership and students some how were not able to avoid. This is a great gym now and will prove over time to be exactly the brand and leadership that the HEB/Bedford com
This jiu jitsu academy is truly something special. Our 6yr old just started there 2 months ago and from day one, the coaches have been incredibly patient, supportive, and so welcoming. They take the time to teach proper technique while also building confidence, discipline, and respect both on and off the mat. Professor Acha's main motto to the kids is "to be kind" above all else and that's when I knew we chose the right gym. You can tell the instructors genuinely care about their students, not just as athletes, but as people. They also take the time to talk to us parents which I appreciate. My son has made a bunch of new friends, learned SO much during his short time here, and the best sign that we made the right decision to come here is that our son WANTS to come to class each and every time. Whether you or your child is looking to build strength, learn self-defense, challenge yourself mentally, or find a strong community, this academy
My son and husband have been training here for almost two years now, and the growth, confidence, and joy they’ve found on these mats has been incredible to watch. From day one, the owner Eric and instructors have gone above and beyond—not just in teaching technique, but in building real relationships and pouring into every student who walks through the door. What sets JJM apart is the family atmosphere. You don’t just join a gym here—you become part of a community that celebrates your wins, supports you through challenges, and makes you feel welcome every single time you show up. The coaches are knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in helping each person succeed, no matter their age or skill level. We’re so grateful to be part of the JJM family. If you’re looking for a place that teaches world‑class jiu jitsu while also building character, confidence, and connection, this is it. Highly recommend!
I can’t say enough good things about this academy. My daughter absolutely loves jiu jitsu, and the instructors here have become such an important part of her life. They don’t just teach technique—they pour into these kids with patience, encouragement, and genuine care. You can feel it the moment you walk in. What means the most to me is how they showed up for us during a really difficult time. They didn’t have to, but they did. They made sure my daughter could keep training, keep smiling, and keep moving forward when everything else felt heavy. That kind of kindness stays with you. The owner and coaches treat these kids like family, and it shows in every class. I’m so grateful for the way they’ve supported my daughter and helped her hold onto something she loves so much. If you’re looking for a place that truly cares—this is it.
Our whole family trains at this gym and we absolutely love it. This gym is incredibly family-friendly and welcoming for all ages and experience levels. The instructors teach great technique and really care about helping everyone improve, not just roll hard. The vibe is positive, respectful, and encouraging, and the community is amazing. As a woman, I especially appreciate having great female training partners and feeling supported on the mats. If you’re looking for a gym with strong instruction, a good atmosphere, and a true sense of community, this is the place.
JJ Machado Jiu-Jitsu is an amazing place to train with great vibes all around. The professor has years of experience and deep knowledge, and it really shows in the way classes are taught. The environment is welcoming, supportive, and high-level at the same time. The kids program is especially incredible—structured, positive, and great for building confidence and discipline. Highly recommend for anyone looking to train jiu-jitsu, kids or adults.
