I transferred here having some training (blue belt) and the staff and coaches were really welcoming. The schedule was very flexible and allowed for trainings at different times of the day, and worth the monthly price. The staff is very friendly and helpful with coaching, allowing students to ask questions about the drills and moves, and answering them for the students so they can learn. The training environment is very friendly and welcoming, with the other practitioners being helpful and wanting the best for their teammates, new and old. The jiu jitsu classes also change what the focus is every month, allowing training in all different areas of jiu jitsu to improve the students game. The Muay Thai class is also engaging, allowing different training techniques and an engaging class, with the coach walking around helping students of all levels. The gym is clean, the equipment is well maintained, and the staff is willing answer any questi
I chose TN BJJ Academy over several other schools I visited for three primary reasons: 1. The facility is clean with all the bags, mats, and training aids to learn both BJJ and stand up arts like boxing or Muay Thai. 2. The head instructor and owner explained that he emphasized real self defense BJJ over sport Jiu Jitsu, even though the school students are successful in competitions 3. The school has separate and outstanding instructors in Tae Kwon Do, boxing, wrestling, and BJJ. Now that I have been attending classes for around 6 months, I have even more reasons for being glad I chose this school. The most important thing is the classes are fun! All the students have a good time laughing while we learn techniques because Coach Earl (the head of the school) makes the moves and the ways we might get them wrong funny. This leads to a light hearted atmosphere while we add skills. Also, the coach makes sure no one rolls or works to aggressi
Before I started training, I tried a few free trials at different places. And I had come to terms with the fact that BJJ was just not for me. But I had already scheduled a free trial class at TBJJAM, so I decided to try this last place. Everyone was welcoming, kind, and incredibly helpful. Coach Earl has a way of explaining the intricacies of techniques, and WHY you should do them this way that resonates with people’s minds in a different way. I’ve achieved and surpassed physical fitness goals that I had set for myself, and my daily life has improved immeasurably from the lessons I’ve learned here. From staying calm in tense situations, to doing the difficult thing because I know it’s the right thing to do. I cannot begin to describe the impact training here has had on my life outside of the gym. I’ve made friends with teammates that I believe I’ll have for a lifetime, and truly the highlight of my day is getting to class. From someone
We love this gym! Our kids have been attending Jiu Jitsu kids classes for two years. This is not an after-school program, it’s a dedicated class that actually teaches your kids the discipline and art of Jiu Jitsu. Coach Earl keeps the class size small so each child gets the attention they need. I highly recommend this gym for anyone who wants their kids to learn to defend themselves and build confidence.
I have been going here to train for a little over a year now. I originally started training at the behest of my neurologist as a way to keep my strength up and stay healthy in the face of my recent MS diagnosis. Training here has become so much more than a pursuit for health. The Tennessee BJJ Academy Murfreesboro has provided me with an entire community of people committed to discipline and growth. Jiu Jitsu is a lifestyle and a martial art. When training, you need the right community of people who truly care about you to make you the best that you can be. I found my people, and I believe that you will find your people here too.
I dropped in for a class at Tennessee BJJ Academy Murfreesboro a couple of months ago, and it was an excellent experience. The staff was extremely welcoming from the moment I arrived, and the facility was clean, spacious, and well-maintained. Their approach was different from the gym I normally train at—the use of games to introduce and integrate new skills was a refreshing and effective change. The coaches were very helpful and made sure I understood everything we were working on, and the students I partnered with were incredibly friendly. Next time I’m in Murfreesboro, I’ll definitely be back for more training with these great people!
