Pridelands is a primer schools for Jiu-Jitsu & NAGA in NEPA. It’s a very homely yet competitive environment & coach Rachford is one of the best human beings you’ll meet. His mentor ship & care for his students goes far beyond financial insensitive. Pridelands is one of the primer schools for studying Jiu-Jitsu and grappling for mma or naga tournaments. It’s a very homely yet competitive. Coach Rachford maintains his skills and is constantly improving and training by regularly attending the Gracie academy in NYC. Pridelands MMA is a school that I would highly recommend to any up and coming fighter, Jiu-Jitsu practitioner, or anyone serious about self defense, or competition.
Pride Lands is the best martial arts gym in the area! I’ve been training here for years. The coaches and members/ teammates are great and treat you like family. Everyone helps each other improve and brush up on their skills. It’s incredible how well they break down techniques for someone to learn and understand. You might be nervous to walk into an mma gym for the first time but I highly recommend you try pride lands out! You won’t regret it! They have an adults class and a kids class. All of the coaches love to help, don’t be shy to ask questions. It changed my confidence and attitude inside and outside of the gym. I’m very grateful I found this gym. It’s a great workout, lots of fun and very welcoming. Try it out!! You won’t regret it!!
Year Follow UP as promised below: Academy was in the same place, excellent sign of stability. Same great crew, same great techniques. People even remembered me. This time I got to drop in on an open mat. Everyone I rolled with took time to answer my questions. Team members would walk by and volunteer for demonstrations of the techniques I asked about. It is a completely "learning dedicated" environment. There some killers there for sure, and they are all about showing you how they do it. If your traveling through the Scranton/Wilkesberre area and not training here, your missing out. See you guys next year, hopefully I'll be a little better, but if not, I'll certainly leave a little better! Thanks! Awesome acedemy! Dropped in for a Saturday session while traveling from Pittsburgh. Instructors were great, and acedemy students were very welcoming. I train mostly gi, so it was an awesome hour spent fixing huge holes in my No Gi game. Great
I started training at Pride Lands in June of 2018 with about six months of prior Jiu Jitsu training background. Since then I’ve tried to make it into three training sessions per week. From the level of overall experience on this mat, and the commitment of Professors Jason and Paul I have become more than proficient as a beginner and I am competing in my first tournament next month. (NAGA World Championship) Thank you to Jay, Paul and the entire team. Dark side, RGA, Donaher Deathsquad, etcetera, etcetera... 👊🏾 Come check it out and become a stronger, smarter version of you.
I’ve been training here since Dec 2022 - Jay Ratchford is an excellent coach and amazing human being who pushes you and encourages you to be the best version of yourself on and off the mat. The people that train here are exceptionally humble and easy to train with. The gym is full of individuals of all skill levels in BJJ/Judo/wrestling/striking. The classes are taught by high level professors who enjoy what they do and will go out of their way to work one-on-one with you. This is the place for you whether you’re an active competitor or just a hobbyist.
You will not find a gym with a better coach and better training partners. They are welcoming to everyone who steps foot on that mat regardless of age, gender, skill level, etc. The goal is to make YOU better every time you show up. There are no egos and everyone here is a team. When I started training here 3 years ago, I believed that I was investing in myself. It has positively impacted every part of my life and has saved my life in my employment on more than one occasion. Training at Pridelands will make you more confident, improve your overall health, and create lasting friendships with a great group of people.
