I have taken two of Mona’s classes and would absolutely recommend them for anyone interested in self-defense. Even if you can only take one class in the session do it! This class is truly a safe space and welcoming environment for women of all ages and backgrounds. These classes are not only about defending yourself physically but also emotionally. Building awareness, affirming your boundaries and other strategies for handling difficult situations are addressed in these classes. These skills are important for all women, no matter what age and Mona does a fantastic job of navigating these topics!
These classes should be required education in schools! Mona is not your typical-looking self defense instructor. She looks like someone you’d have over for tea. But when she starts taking punches from students, your respect for her goes through the roof. My daughter took her advanced class about how to use every day objects to protect herself and shortly after got into a harassment situation at school. Her first response after escalating her verbiage was to look around for a weapon, if needed. She said her responses were a direct result of her training. Glad the situation was defused, but she was ready for anything. I’m starting the advanced class myself soon. Can’t wait!
I have learned so much during this four-week beginner self-defense class. Our instructor, Mona, makes self-defense approachable and accessible. I greatly appreciated that Empowerment Self-Defense goes further than just teaching physical techniques. The class covers the importance of awareness, assertiveness, posture, and body language. The Beginner Self-Defense for Women course reminds us of the strength that women possess. I had a lot of fun each week, and I am looking forward to the next class!
This is the 3rd year in a row Mona taught a group of young women that I coordinate as a private self-defense class. Mona is amazing!! Her instructions are clear and she energizes the girls so they respond and learn so much! I do many things with these girls throughout the year and this is their favorite thing to learn! I highly recommend Mona anytime someone is looking for a very FUN and informative self-defense class!
The Zoom course is a well-rounded beginner's class for self-defense. I learned a lot more than I anticipated, including about myself. I have taken this class twice now, and picked up new things the second time around. I would 100% take this class again.
I knew I had the "fighting spirit" within me, but this class is what was needed to activate it. I feel truly empowered knowing I stand a chance against an attack. The methods you used in class and the chances we had as participants to listen and ask questions really provided a positive learning atmosphere. I'm about to tell all my girlfriends to take your course. I hope to take more from you in the future!
