My son and I have been going to the Bridgeville location for almost 2 years now. It's been an amazing place to train. The coaches are fantastic, and the facility is kept clean. My son, Owen has trained there since he was 5. He does Jiu Jitu and Striking, while I only do Jiu Jitsu. He's 7 now and might enjoy going there more than I do. He trains regularly with about 5 different coaches depending on the day he is there or the activity he's doing. Coach Zach is always there and treats my son like family. I truly believe that Owen's performance in school and sports is directly contributed to how much confidence he's gained through training with coaches like Zach. Even the adults I train with treat him like family and several of them have kids that train there as well. It really is a second family to me, and I feel very privileged to have a Stout Training Gym so close to me. It's one of the very few things I can bond over with Owen. I have 2
*** Updated *** When I came back to this location since my last review I was excited to find that the gym had moved to a new location which Is even closer to the bus stop, and some of Pittsburgh‘s must see attractions and businesses. They are making great use of the space doing open mats almost every single day, and teaching a variety of classes with different intensities and training methodologies. The owners and staff are extremely kind and genuine people Who prioritize making sure that I got some good training any financial or egotistical concerns. This is one of the few gyms where I would recommend a drop-in for anybody regardless of size training gender skill level Or how tired you are. Please see my previous review below: This is one of the best gyms you could go to train at or drop into. It has good facilities great training partners and a laid-back atmosphere. The facilities include a very large matt area, central heating, multi
Top notch, went there under a recommendation form a training partner who used to train at Stout. I have been training for approximately for seven years. Right from the beginning the atmosphere was of one I know I would enjoy. When I walked in the owner, Warren came right over to me with a huge smile and asked if I wanted to train. Although class had already started, he led me to beginner class (only class I could take with my schedule) with an instructor Dan. Dan has a knack for teaching, leading class with just enough detail to get the concept/technique and not overwhelm his students with to much detail, due to the class being a beginner class. I praise and highly suggest Stout for any journey.
Stout PGH is an incredible place to train. For some context, I’m a pretty shy guy, in OK shape, and I was visiting from out of town. I come to Pittsburgh for work about 4-5x a year, and I had just started Muay Thai back home about a week before writing this. When I showed up on Monday hoping to get some more training in, I was blown away by the variety of classes they offered. They have grappling, MMA, striking, and more, all tailored for different experience levels. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in. They clearly laid out where to go and what to expect. The class instructor was excellent at explaining each technique and made it easy to follow along. Even better, the members understood I was a beginner and worked with me patiently, teaching what felt like a mountain of knowledge in just a one-hour session. I’ve only been to one class so far, but I already know I’ll be coming back every time I’m
Tomorrow is my last day in Pittsburgh, so I felt it’s time I leave a review for this place. I’ve been training here for around 2 months over summer break, and it’s been super great. The coaches are amazing, everyone is super kind and supportive, the mats are always clean, they have showers downstairs, and there are some very skilled fighters coming out of this gym. The front desk staff are amazing! They explain everything super well, not trying to hide any sneaky fees or cancellation policies. I felt like the membership was a little pricey (on par with prices in San Diego, where I’m from), but it was totally worth it to me, and they even have a student discount that makes it more affordable. This is just standard for most MMA gyms 🤷‍♀️ The classes are split up by skill level, but the distinctions describe the techniques learned rather than the students’ skill levels. Even the most advanced students take the fundamentals classes, because
Amazing facility with dedicated and professional instructors. I can't say enough good things about the gym, the instructors, its members, and all the individuals that dedicate their time to making it an empowering community. Stout Training is literally my favorite place in Pittsburgh and has made my experience and quality of life in this city exponentially better. I've never met, seen, or heard of someone having a poor experience in any of the classes and spending time in one class will make it blatantly obvious as to why this is the case. Overall, its not just a typical gym but an empowering community of individuals from all walks of life constantly working to better themselves and each other.
