I love it here. Been training here for 5 years. I initially started with Jiu Jitsu but I also now do Muay Thai and Boxing. great place. They got all kinds of classes here. Huge facility, clean, friendly instructors, and beautiful locker room facilities. Whether you are brand new or experienced they have a class for you. The
instructors are so patient. Highly recommended. I wish I started sooner.:) update. I’ve started kickboxing and my son is training here too..
Love Tai Kai!

I've been wanting to pursue Jiu Jitsu for a while and finally decided to go for it and I am so glad to have found Tai Kai.

First off, the community there is top notch. Everyone is friendly and eager to help. They are all passionate about their craft and are always there to offer tips/tweaks to help me improve.

I like how the classes are structured. They'll take a position and work through several moves from that position which makes the skills appliable in the open mat sessions. The instructors are highly knowledgeable and are great about highlighting the subtle details in technique which make all the difference.

I highly recommend Tai Kai to anyone at any skill level. Its the perfect environment if you want to grow physically and mentally.
This is a second home to my entire family! We have been members for 7+ years. Love all the people and the instructors! Ken is the owner and head instructor at Tai Kai. He is always looking out for the best interest of your child and your Jiu Jitsu journey. This place has changed my life for the better at age 40+. All levels and ages can feel completely welcomed. Hope this helps someone thinking about maybe trying it for the first time or maybe getting back on the mats. You will not regret it!

UPDATE: 12/6/2021
Team Sherbourne has two purple belts and two blue belts now!!!!
Thank you Ken and all coaches!

UPDATE: 8/24/2023
Team Sherbourne is still going strong!!!
This place has a well established culture. I just finished my 3rd Jiu-Jitsu class there. At each class people have been encouraging and root for each other. Also, the training is legit and practical. Ken does his best to match you up in practice with people that will help each other get better. As a college wrestler back in 2018 and coaching at my old highschool for a few years after that...its been fun learning new things each class while waking up my muscle memory from years ago. I am excited to keep going!
For reference I’m 49 and never had any martial arts training before, and my two kids 12 and 7 were in their 2nd or 3rd year of taekwondo. They needed a change, and I wanted something to keep me in shape and to learn some self defense at the same time. My two kids and I couldn’t be happier with Tai Kai, Coach Ken, and all the other instructors, and even the other students. Every single person we’ve met in there has been extremely friendly, supportive, knowledgeable, professional, helpful and understanding. Also having Mauy Thai, Boxing, and Cardio Kickboxing in the same place is another bonus. My only regret is that I didn’t find Tai Kai for us sooner.
Tai Kai is the home of a great community of people who share the common goals of building themselves and each other to be better. I was very nervous signing up and especially walking into my first class. By the end of the first class I had already made a couple friends, learned a piece of self defense and all nerves were gone. (No egos present at this gym). I went home with a passion for jiu jitsu and a new mindset. I’ve learned a lot in just two months and I look forward to training with Ken and his team every day. I encourage anyone interested to join, and STICK WITH IT!
