While visiting family in Rochester, I wanted to do some training, so all my time wouldn't be spent eating and drinking. I didn't bring any gloves or shin guards (too bulky for the suitcase this trip). So, I used this trip as an opportunity to finally start doing some grappling (i.e., BJJ). The No-Gi classes with Coach Lucas were amazing and really built a foundational understanding for me. I even did a private training lesson to over various self-defense scenarios, since I'm not currently training for any fights. I also attended a kickboxing class, which happened to be on sparring day! This was a treat for me, since I had been sparring regularly for the past few months in ATX. The sparring is light and technical, which is all I'm interested in (again, since I'm not currently training for any fights). Since I wanted to focus on grappling this trip, I decided to also do some Thai Clinch Training with Coach Danny. Not only has Coach Danny
My boyfriend and I took private Muay Thai sessions with the owner, Danny, and had an amazing experience. We learned so much in just four classes. Danny is a welcoming, friendly, fun, and incredibly knowledgeable coach. He pushed and challenged us while also being extremely encouraging and patient—especially since we were beginners. After every class, we left feeling accomplished and like we had learned something new. Trying something like this was completely outside my comfort zone, but Danny’s teaching style made it feel achievable and something to be proud of. The gym was very clean, and they provided all the equipment we needed. The atmosphere was both lively and relaxed. Even as a beginner, you feel welcomed and like you truly belong there. We were beyond impressed with our experience and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to join a fun and supportive community!
The energy in the gym is always super positive — you can really feel it as soon as you walk in. The coach (Danny) sets the tone perfectly. He does an amazing job making everyone feel included, and he’s very approachable, personable, and transparent. Danny’s Muay Thai classes cover everything — technique, conditioning, and even the clinch. He’s a well-rounded practitioner and coach, and honestly, it’s impressive how humble he is given all of his professional accomplishments across Muay Thai and BJJ. The workouts will definitely get you into shape too. He’s also fantastic with kids — he knows how to make the classes fun, engaging, and age-appropriate while still teaching discipline and skill. I really look forward to getting my children involved in the gym when they’re ready because I know they’ll be in great hands. Whether you’re looking to get fit, learn self-defense, train recreationally, or compete, there’s truly a place for everyone
I am a competitive martial artist and I’ve been training my whole life across different countries. I’ve encountered Rochester Top Team many times in tournaments, and even though I was not a member, they took to my corner and coached me through my matches when I didn’t have anyone with me. Aside from their unreal skill level, these are good people that simply do the right thing. These great experiences with the team led me to visit Rochester just to train with them, and the moment I walked in, I was shocked at how well equipped the facility was. The owner Danny did such a great job setting this gym up when they opened. Walking into the gym even as a BJJ blue belt, I encountered so many different looks in such a wide variety of styles and body types and I learned so much in just a couple of days with them. What stood out the most is that no matter the intensity, at no point was I worried about getting hurt. Everyone here is so safe to wor
The trainers work incredibly hard to help you succeed—they’re dedicated, knowledgeable, and always focused on safety. The gym is clean, welcoming, and has a great atmosphere for learning and pushing yourself. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced, this place makes you feel like you belong. They also have spacious private locker rooms and bathrooms that are always well-maintained
Some of the highest level jiu jitsu instruction I’ve had in the area. Cleanest gym in Rochester. Instructors are super welcoming and friendly.
