Igor Gracie himself is a standup guy. Definitely one of the best Jiujitsu instructors I have come across. He is extremely welcoming and humble when it comes to people and the environment. The mats are always clean. All the Jiujitsu practitioners make you feel at home. Everyone in the gym is friendly and make you feel comfortable. I do not have anything negative to say about Igor Gracie III-jitsu academy.
The staff is incredibly encouraging and inclusive when dealing with children. My 3-year-old son was naturally hesitant to participate at first, but he couldn’t help but be drawn into the friendly and comfortable environment that still espouses the ideals of self discipline and focus. After every class, he leaves filled with confidence and enthusiasm to the point of inspiration, where now his older sister has joined him; his older cousins plan to begin training at Igor Gracie’s new Eastchester location; and even I - his father - am dreaming about rekindling my involvement in the martial arts. If you’re thinking about it, don’t hesitate. Make the trip, be consistent and deliberate and you’ll see a real transformation of attitude in both you and your children.
I had the pleasure of knowing Igor Gracie for several years now and as soon as I heard he opened up a Jiu Jitsu school in New York I had to visit. Man was I impressed! Talk about lineage...He is the grandson of the creator! The academy is kept very clean, it has a friendly and fun atmosphere, and Igor makes you feel like you're apart of the family. One standout of the academy is the kids program. His curriculum does a great job at teaching children. They learn self esteem, respect, and have fun doing it! Simply the best!
Awesome place! The level of instruction is as good as it gets.Professor Igor and instructors Jaoa & Ramon all explain the moves with excellent detail and are always there to correct us or show us how we could be doing something better. I also love how all the instructors train with the students, definitely helps us get better. I would recommend Igor Gracie Jiu Jitsu to both newcomers to jiu jitsu and experienced practitioners.
This is a first rate academy. The coaches are all very experienced and they articulate Jiu Jitsu very well. It is a very warm environment and family friendly. You cannot go wrong here whether you are an adult who wants to train or have your children learn valuable skills. It is also a great place for older adults who might feel they are past their prime. Igor Gracie’s is an excellent academy. .
Hi, the club is fantastic, and the coaches are great but: I was training at the New Rochelle academy just for one month from April to May 2025, and I had notified Vito, and Kyle about only staying for one month at the beginning of April. I no longer live in the US, and I wish to get my 249 $ back which was deducted from my bank account on May 16th 2025. I was already training at the academy from July to December 2024, and have had a very positive experience with the club, and intend on coming back when I visit. I would hate to leave a negative review of this club just for this reason. If you could please reimburse what I assume was deducted by accident from my bank account that would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Kind regards, Leo Gianni
