The coaching here is world class, with an emphasis on both technique and safety. Classes suit both beginners and advanced practitioners, as well as women and kids. The training facility is exceptional, offering a clean, spacious, and welcoming space for anyone looking to train martial arts in Queens. Probably what sets the academy apart the most is the welcoming environment for newcomers, everyone who walks through the doors is treated like family. As a 2012 Freestyle Wrestling Olympian, multi-time Pan American medalist, and 5-time amateur champion in MMA promotions across the US, I have trained at some of the best facilities around the world. Throughout my travels, I have found that the coaching at Queens Jiu Jitsu, under the supervision of Professor Quinn, is truly exceptional. In addition to their Brazilian Jiu Jitsu(Gi & NoGi) program, this location also offers a comprehensive wrestling program, which is perfect for anyone looking to improve their wrestling skills. The facility itself is clean and well-maintained, with space for training and sparring. What sets this Astoria location apart from others is the sense of community and camaraderie among the students and instructors. Everyone is supportive and encouraging, which makes for a positive and motivating training environment. As someone with extensive experience in combat sports, I can confidently recommend this Queens Jiu
I never thought I would find such a supportive community in pursuing martial arts and physical fitness. Queens Jiu Jitsu is my home 5 minutes from home. It’s the perfect place for a woman just starting her BJJ journey to feel supported, welcomed, safe, and have a ton of fun. Professor Quinn’s instruction style is both accessible and challenging in the best way - absolutely world-class. I have been able to confidently compete in local tournaments in just over a year of training, and I feel the coaches and higher belts are fully invested in my learning and growth as a grappler and martial artist. The general atmosphere is so down-to-earth and family-like, and I think that’s a testament to our coaches and their mindsets. Whether you’re looking for a healthy and stimulating type of exercise or hobby, or you’re looking to get out there and compete intensely, I would recommend Queens Jiu Jitsu to anyone. Women especially should check out the
When I first started training at queens jiu jitsu I was already 30 years old and I was nervous that I would be too old and out of shape to pick up a new sport. I quickly learned that was not the case. Professor Quinn caters to all skill levels from beginner to advance. Quinn is very knowledgeable in his craft. He always keeps classes entertaining all while giving you a great workout. Jiu jitsu has not only become a hobby of mine but also is a great skill to have for my career as a law enforcement officer. Since joing I have even competed in several bjj competitions. Over the past few years i have met so many good people and have made many friendships. Any one new to bjj or looking to check out a new gym should definitely come to queens jiu jitstu. 💪
The best jiu jitsu gym in Queens. Coach Quinn, Lizz, and Jose are amazing instructors going in detail with techniques for both beginners and advanced guys. The community here is also amazing and full of awesome training partners who want to learn and get better together. Made some great friendships here. Some of my favorite classes are Friday's competition class that's free to those who train. Full of tough rounds in groups of 3-4 people to end off the weekend. Wrestling with Coach Kevin is also super fun learning good position and how to perfect our takedowns.
Queens Jiu Jitsu very cliché changed my life. I moved from Miami to NYC looking to find a place where I could genuinely get really good at Jiu Jitsu but also find a community of people that I wanted to be surrounded by. I found more than that, Quinn and the rest of the team at Queens Jiu Jitsu opened their doors for me and never looked back. I improved my skills to levels I wasn’t aware I could push myself to achieve. Most importantly I gained a family, a family that to this day I think of everyday even being halfway across the country. If you’re wanting to try Jiu Jitsu or you’re already an experienced practitioner look no further.
