I know searching for a place to start training martial arts at can certainly be intimidating. I remember searching on Google trying to see all my options of what place to start training Jiu-jitsu and went an tried out a couple schools before finally visiting Gracie Palm Harbor. I decided I wanted to make this place my school after my first visit as all the guys here were real nice and took me right in under their wing, no egos, just a big family of people who love Jiu-jitsu want to help everyone get better. I've now been training here about 2.5 years and Jiu-jitsu has helped me to get into the best shape of my life. It's a great workout, and actually quite addicting! Everyone here is really friendly, but at the same time they're exceptional athletes and incredibly skilled at the art of Jiu-jitsu. I've made so many awesome close friends from training here, and truly glad that the made the decision to train at Gracie Palm Harbor. I highly
I've been doing jiu jitsu for about 3 1/2 months, and it is amazing how far I've come at only 2 days a week. It is a highly technical fighting art, and we get to train this art by actually using it at each class. This really helps you see the effectiveness of it. Two of my sons also train at Gracie Palm Harbor, and they love it! The little ninjas' class and the junior's classes are ran by Tony, who is the head instructor, and he is great with kids! The classes usually start and end with games and training in the middle. The kids have opportunities to compete if they would like, and Tony really appreciates each child's desire and individuality. Tony also teaches the adult night classes, and he is an amazing Jiu Jitsu practitioner and instructor. I could say much more, but I would prefer to finish saying that you should at least try it if you are at all curious/interested. I believe Tony still offers a free first week.
Outstanding gym, incredible coaching, and an unbeatable community Graci Palm Harbor is hands-down. From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed, supported, and challenged in the best way possible. The facility is clean, well-run, and has an awesome atmosphere that makes you want to keep showing up and improving. Coach Tony deserves special recognition, he’s an exceptional coach and leader. His instruction is clear, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable, whether you’re brand new or more advanced. He takes the time to make sure everyone understands the techniques, focuses on safety, and pushes you to be your best without ego. You can tell he truly cares about his students and their progress. What really sets Graci Palm Harbor apart is the culture. It’s not just a gym, it’s a community. Everyone is respectful, encouraging, and driven, which makes training there both motivating and fun. If you’re looking for high-level instruction, a posi
I cannot say enough good about this place. My daughter is 6 years old and has been going here for about a year now. Tony, the instructor, is so great with the kids. He keeps them focused, learning and having fun at the same time. He teaches them a lot about respect and working hard to achieve their goals, which I find invaluable. There are a lot of days the kids classes are offered which is very convenient for our schedule. After watching my daughter learn so much at Gracie Palm Harbor, I decided to give it a try myself. I was a little nervous because I am in my thirties and have NEVER done any martial art or anything like it, but from the first class I participated in I knew I loved it. Not only is it SO much fun but it is the most amazing work out. I don't know if I've ever sweat so much! They give you instruction on moves at the beginning of the class and then you practice it with other students while the instructor moves around the
I planned a weekend trip to the Tampa area and discovered that ‘Gracie Palm Harbor’ was only a couple of minutes away from my Air BNB. Doing a quick scan of their extremely well designed website, I decided to reach out in hopes that they accept visitors. Located on their website is a place dedicated to signing up for their trial period that they offer. I didn’t reach out until a night before my visit as it was a last minute decision to squeeze a few rolls in. However, in the morning I was greeted by a gentleman by the name of Tony via email. Tony told me to swing on by to the academy to get some rolls in. I attended their Friday 11 a.m. open mat. What I received was immediate open arms. Although I only spent an hour or so on the mats, I know this is the only location I will attend in the area. Not only was everyone gentle while assessing my abilities, they were also genuine, great people. If you’re in the Tampa area looking for a roll…
Very competent. Very reasonable price. No mcdojo vibe at all. I was an inch away from signing up.... but in the end, I need my bjj and striking to be strong at the same time. So I searched and searched and researched. I found a ton of fake schools with joke blackbelts and worse instructors. Finally, I settled where I am. I'm not gonna call them out here directly because I'm here to give these guys their props. If you want to learn reputable bjj right here in Palm Harbor, you need look no further. Unfortunately, if you are like me and really need to keep up with both, you are gonna have to range pretty far to find a place that can do both well. This area seems to suffer from an excessive amount of wannabe frauds. But if you've got to do both like me and the bread to pay two schools, come here to Gracie for your bjj and go up to Victory for tkd. They teach in a very straightforward manner, and from sparring with one or two of their best b
