I've been a proud member of De La Riva BJJ for just over two years now, and the impact it has had on both my BJJ journey and personal growth is nothing short of remarkable. This academy is truly exceptional in every sense, and I couldn't be more thrilled to share my experience. One of the most striking aspects of De La Riva BJJ is the sense of community and camaraderie that permeates the gym. The coaches and fellow practitioners have become like a second family to me. It's not just about learning the art; it's about the relationships you build along the way. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned practitioner, the atmosphere is welcoming, and everyone is eager to help you progress. At the heart of De La Riva BJJ is Professor Joe, a true maestro in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. His dedication to teaching and his deep understanding of the art are evident in every class. Professor Joe has an uncanny ability to break down complex techniq
My family and I have been training at Delariva Bjj in Brooksville for just over a year. My son joined first, then my husband and daughter followed. All of the people at the school were very welcoming and friendly. I watched on the sidelines as my family trained for several months. The students at the school had so much fun training that it made me want to try it too. I was nervous about joining and not comfortable at first, but the people there worked with me and made me feel at ease. Now instead of sitting on the sidelines, I train alongside my family and new friends. The owner is a major stickler for cleanliness. He’s kept the place hyper-clean since before Covid was an issue. Students are required to follow good hygiene practices before coming to class, the mats are the cleanest I’ve seen anywhere, and the facility is cleaned daily. All of the instructors in the school are so passionate about jiu jitsu, and they love to pass their kn
UPDATE - I’ve now been training with professor Iury & coach Joe for 5 years going on 6. I just received my brown belt & now actually a kids class instructor. This school & academy has only improved in quality over the time & I wish I could give it 10 stars!!! Contrary to the UTTERLY FALSE 1 star review, Coach Joe keeps the whole facility EXTREMELY clean, from the mats, the floors we walk on, the dressing rooms & the bathrooms everything is sanitized & spotless. Bathroom is fully functional & gym is always up to date. The school here & the program ran is phenomenal. Everybody is very welcoming & we all treat each other like family here. Our small town school is now going out & winning big time tournaments & collecting some pretty metals. The price is cheap & extremely worth it. High quality instruction & great environment. Come get a spot in our school now before it’s too late! I've been with professor Iury for a little over a year now.
On July 10, this past Sunday, I had the privilege of witnessing a belt promotion ceremony at De La Riva BJJ academy. I have to say it was inspirational on so many fronts. The first thing that stood out was the sense of family and camaraderie. I’ve seen other academies have a strong sense of family but not at this level. This academy takes it to an entirely new height. The family atmosphere observed was refreshing. All students and coaches help one another in a very caring and sincere way. Self improvement and the advancement of Individual Jiu Jitsu skills are the focus while perpetuating a family environment. The second thing that definitely stood out was each students knowledge of the fundamental Jiu Jitsu skills they were asked to perform. All students, even the kids performed basic and advanced skills for the test efficiently. It was impressive to say the least. I have to say no matter what level whether beginner or advanced this sch
My family have been training here for over three years. We initially came here for jiujitsu for our son and because the school was so welcoming each one of us joined over a course of a year. Total of five of us! Kids and adults train together and separately. This was one main reason that drew me here. I loved the fact that I can train with my kids at the same time. The kids train with the kids while the adults train with the adults. The school itself has a warm welcoming atmosphere. Within months of being here, the school became our family. Another home away from home.
I am 39, have never had any type of martial arts training, out of shape, and by no means consider myself a “tough guy” so admittedly I was worried about getting hurt or even making it to work the next day. That being said the place is very welcoming and friendly to all types of people no matter your skill set age or body type. My son and I have been here for 6 months now and we love it! Family friendly and I get to learn something with my best bud. While I’m certainly not on any level good or even decent at BJJ nor do I have the mat time to talk but I feel the coaching is clearly explained and shown in the most professional and respectful manner possible. Everyone leaves the place with a smile on their face and everyone here will help in anyway they can. Promotions are on a time and skill set as they should be so you know when and if the time comes that it was earned and that says a lot in my way of life. Respect is fully practiced here
